Found a Strutter

Post by Hobbes_mobile »

I took some time off this morning and checked a spot 2 hours away. It turned out to be a productive tank of gas. I could hear a hen yelping at my first stop, then a bird gobbled a few times at my second stop. Both birds were in the area where a road hunter shot a tom out from under me at the end of last season.

I then drove back into some country that I've never hunted or scouted but looked like there should be birds living there. I got lucky and found a strutter with 3 hens. It made the drive worth it. I'll give him a run in the snow on Saturday if they don't close down season on me.

Or I may end up froze in place.

If he stays where I found him, he'll get killed by another jackass road hunter

It's great to see birds in areas you can hunt just before season starts. Good luck and be safe.
Thank you Lord for creating these wonderful birds and allowing us to chase after them.
