Nebraska out for Nonresident hunters?

Post by decoykrvr »

Nebraska currently shows N/A for nonresident turkey permits for 2020 on their website. I'll call the state office this morning when they open for more clarification.

No sales to NR. Just NR landowners. They shut it down yesterday. Press release today. I know NR that's hunting NE now. Season started the 25th. I'm sure KS will follow. I'm calling too.

Sucks for many, but I can't say I blame them, who would want a bunch of infected city slickers invading their territory!

True I just spoke with the people I stay with in Nebraska and they told me that they would rather I stay home this year which I agree with. Unfortunately I already bought my Nebraska nr permits.

I've hunted Nebraska as Non-Resident since 1981, and one of my state contacts said that there has been quite an uproar within the agency and other state departments, ie. Tourism, Finance, etc. over the potential results and implications of a N/R shutdown. Are some of the states being pro-active or reactive? When you review what has happened in this country with Covid-19 just this month, it's a real conundrum about how to proceed.

Looks like bowfishing and mtn biking for me this spring. Our fat azz governor shut down state owned land. Looks like the year of the privileged. NR land owner can hunt too.Image

It's Official/ Nebraska has suspended the sale of Non-Resident turkey permits for 2020. If you've already purchased a permit you can hunt, but no additional extra gobbler permits will be sold. NR 2020 permit holders will be contacted next week about refunds if they choose not to hunt.

Exactly what I was thinking. I had plans to travel out of state this year, but traveling to them is the least of my concern right now. Hopefully this will give some states populations the reprieve they’ve been needing now.
