10 dollar meal

Post by ICDEDTURKES »

With summer winding down outdoor cooking is on menu.

Grilled pork chops with Open Pit BBQ sauce, shish kabob veggies in garlic pepper seasoning, box brown Cajun rice and garden tomatoes.

Sal and I both ate for 10 bucks or less.

Dang, that looks good! Original Open Pit is my favorite BBQ sauce. I wish that they could figure out a way to thicken it up a tad and not loose any of its qualities! I love the extra zip that it has! Just a bit on the runny side!
Well done, Tom!
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Thanks Mike

Lol you'd love my vinegar base sauce then. Lol I think it's thinner as they don't use as many sweetners hence tang
IMO store bought sauces have become way to sweet love the tang like you said. I honestly will not eat overly sweet baby Ray's on anything

If you want a store sauce from Walmart with tang but thicker, try Stubb's original or they're hot it's not that spicy. Thicker open pit but not brown sludge like others.
I've recently re fallen in love with open pit again, haven't had since a kid, maybe brings me back.

Me too grumpy best part of summer. Had a guy on a forum tell me I cook to many veggies lol Alot of days my lunch is veggie platter. My favorite snack is pickling cukes with salt and pepper.

Bought Canadian bacon, bacon gonna whip up a BLT next few days, maybe my summer favorite.

Trying fried green maters tonight first time ever, they stink, I'm out 25 cents in batter

BLT’s and sweet corn for us tonight! Once a week, all summer long!
I love cut up cukes and onions in vinegar, water and sugar. Let em sit for a couple of days. I also eat fresh tomatoes like apples.
Gotta add a little salt.. My favorite!
We have a veggie farmer just down the road so it’s easy to keep fresh stuff throughout the growing season..

Thanks Mike lol made me choke up vinegar cukes something ma always made. She added purple onions

BLTs are amazing, need a good fresh mater. Not the winter stuff shipped from South. Or hydro

Tomatoes, salt for sure I add pepper but am addicted to pepper I take head off Shaker and douse everything

Like you, were fortunate have small produce stands all over, some are Amish, some are churches and some local people

What's point putting in a garden cheaper to buy, or everyone has friends, I have to many beans, corn, zucchini, squash tomatoes want some. I do a garden it will be off the wall stuff and herb garden

For sure. Cheaper to buy and no hassles of having the garden!! It’s a win- win!! I do put onions on my cukes. I just edited my post to show that. I’ve got a batch brewing, as we speak!
