Re: A bowhunters thread?
I've killed them with compounds and crossbows over the past 26 years. It's a good challenge hunting them with archery equipment instead of a shotgun.
Re: A bowhunters thread?
I’ve killed a few with my compound in the fall while deer hunting. Don’t hunt them anymore with it. Always take my 12 now

Re: A bowhunters thread?
I have killed several with a bow. If I only had one turkey to kill I guess I would use a bow more often. but I like to travel and help my family here at home so I never took the time to really bow hunt for turkeys. Fall season mainly. Early in my career of killing turkeys I spring hunted one for three days out of a blind. dang turkey peeved my off so the 4th day i filled his head full of lead. and never bowhunted spring gobbler again lol
some guys really get into the bow turkeys. After the shot and a dead turkey I always felt the same no matter what I shot the turkey with. Just happy to kill another gobbler

I'm setting up an old school Oneida aero force and using a whisker buiscut rest.shooting 400 carbons,4" inch feathers.125 grain snuffer heads with glue in inserts.only complaint the Oneida bow is fast but noisy.they all are.anybody shoot these Oneidas .I got the aero force, the tom cat,and the screaming eagle.all fast but loud.
Re: A bowhunters thread?
That bow hunting anything might be just fine for the younger guys and gals but when you get some years on your old hide like most on here do you will be thinking the splatter gun for turkeys is the way to go.

Oneida started 10 miles from my house Claude Pollington. They are noisy as all get out but draw smooth. They can be a knee whacker sitting in stand. Got bought by Bass pro as they have the best bowfishing bow. . Their machine shop had grown since being bought out.BoxCall@68 wrote: ↑July 28th, 2019, 5:28 pm I'm setting up an old school Oneida aero force and using a whisker buiscut rest.shooting 400 carbons,4" inch feathers.125 grain snuffer heads with glue in inserts.only complaint the Oneida bow is fast but noisy.they all are.anybody shoot these Oneidas .I got the aero force, the tom cat,and the screaming eagle.all fast but loud.

you might be thinking of the knock off sneakers "Oneidas"
Re: A bowhunters thread?
Always admired those Oneidas. I shoot recurve. Shot with a fella for a while who shot an Oneida instinctive. The difference is when he missed there was no point in lookongvfor the arrow, whereas with my recurve it could glance off trees and be ok.
I once asked him How he could afford to use up so many arrows. He said he used to be a drunk. Wasting arrows was expensive but still cheaper than drinking all weekend.
When he was on it was something to see. When he was off it sounded like a multicar pile up every shot.

Nope I'm certain guys I grew up with worked there played basketball tournaments with claudes grandson. They still have their high fence and recently expanded their machine shop. Like I said they sold out to bass pro as Jp loved their bows for fishing. They had a loyal following around here.crow wrote: ↑July 29th, 2019, 11:46 amhoobilly wrote: ↑July 29th, 2019, 11:24 amShot one years ago. Lol you were in Leroy-Luther area where the men are men and the women are well men. They'll split wood faster than you and hold their own in the arm wrestling contest at razzaque days.timbrhuntr wrote: ↑July 30th, 2019, 11:25 amHa ha you mean the northern lower. Our area has some good looking girls. I did good, walked in gym do plyometrics, saw her at volleyball practice in those shorts. I'm like hmmm.
19 years later were still together. Funny her ma is a curmudgeon she looks at me other day goes "when I found out who you were dating I hated it, but I love you now" My reputation dating was well know
