Unbelievable turkey calling

Watch the Pinhoti Project, "Hook Spur South Carolina Gobbler", for some turkey calling by Dave Owens which is truly unbelievable. I've rerun several sections of the video numerous times and just keep telling myself that this is the reason that he was the Grand National Champion. Enjoy!!!

Amazes me all the sounds he can make with a single mouth call! Bet he has changed a few minds about 'overcalling' too. Ha. So much to be learned from his videos.

He has dispelled many maxims I've heard over the years. First, folks used to say contest calling wasn't hunting calling. (Sour grapes?) Second, frequency of calls. He calls a lot. It might not be as much as the videos seem to indicate because the hunt footage is often compressed and we are hearing gobbling in response to a call. However, his runs of calls are far longer (and better) than I do. He has definitely got the purr down. His buddy, Chubbs, ain't too shabby either. Gil

His soft stuff is impressive, I’ve never had trouble with aggressive calling but that subtle stuff,arrrg. His subtle clucks are amazing!
