Day 23, 05/14 of the 2019 Ohio Spring Turkey Season.

It was 42, with partially cloudy skies & calm with the woods being a little foggy at 05:55 A.M.
The song birds were out in force which was 1 1st over the past week or so.
At 06:36, I heard a gobble from the usual area to the NW. I sent out a few yelps & cutts & he
responded twice before going quiet.
I had planned on sitting just inside the woods near Silent Cal’s strut path hoping to waylay
him as he wouldn’t come into the woods. I set out 1 hen decoy along the edge of the green
field hoping to entice the gobbler. The plan worked to perfection except for 1 minor detail…………………
The $%^&*() turkey never showed up!!!!
I had to give up the afternoon as I had a couple of things to straighten out based on something
that didn’t happen Sunday morning. This afternoon had to be 1 of the most frustrating I have
ever had but I hope I got the situation resolved. It was 55 when I left at 10:30.
Tomorrow is supposed to be pretty nice starting in the mid 40s, hitting 51 by 08:00 A.M., with
a high of 69 with 0-5% chance of rain & a light breeze. I hope to stay out most of the day or
until I kill a bird. The 3 Amigos better not show up.
