I have buddies who used to be like that, but they’re all reformed now.

Turn him in or you are just as culpable.

That's not a buddy, those numbers represent a jackass with a complete disregard of other hunters and turkeys in general.

I don't necessarily agree with him being culpable..

I have had dealings with CO's and it comes back to haunt you. I won't go there anymore. If i have a problem I will take care of it personally. Now if its some idiot poaching on our farm and we catch them, different story.

True...guilt by association. Happened to me. Depends on the CO.

Is he killing them all legit or is he ambushing and corn piling? I used to know a couple guys similar to that but after 2-3 years all their turkeys are dead and they cant do it any longer. ran out of land to hunt. We eat about 6 turkeys a year in our house, I cant imagine eating more than that

Killing over the legal limit in one state isn't legit.

Those individuals need help, that's not only poaching, it's a mental illness. A person who can't stop the "Thrill Killing" is a dangerous person. Agree with HOOBILLY, 1st would be a personal verbal "hey man, knock it off. Your stealing from all of us". Second would be a "your obviously a slow learner, here's a lesson" :slap: ! Those people are not only stealing a resource from people, they are eliminating the experience of somebody possibly experiencing the thrill of a 1st time harvest with a friend or family member. And we all know what's that like  !

What I meant by "legit" is was he calling these birds up and killing them. I know a bunch of fools that given enough time and ammo could kill 15-20 if ambushing and sitting over corn and milo.

Buddies and friends, no, but I know some guys that kill over the limit on everything they hunt.

Local GW basically says unless he catches them with more than the allowed in possession of limit there is nothing he can do.

Anybody killing that many turkeys is a problem. Doesn't matter who it is or what land those birds are coming off of, it's stealing from the future, if not from other hunters. Glad I don't know who it is, cause I'd tell them what I thought of them and that they'd better be looking over their shoulder.

I usually call in 20 a year that get killed but I only shoot a fraction of them.

Not terribly unusual for us either.

I think I called in 15 this year and only killed 2 myself.

Well...unless that’s a proper fraction, you could be part of the problem ;)

Poaching is not a good thing in my book and bragging about how many you kill over your limit is worse than anything in my book. I've lost buddies over that type of stuff before. I don't want to even know what those type of people do or even hear about that type of stuff. If a man brags about killing that many over limit they shouldn't bitch when they get turned in or caught in the act.

On a side note I have no problem with a man killing 20+ gobblers a year if he is traveling and killing that many legally.
