Boot Recommendations
Boot Recommendations
I currently wear a pair of 18 inch danners that I love they’re snake proof and water proof because I end up in water in some spots I hunt. However I also hunt a lot of steep terrain and I have been looking into buying but a pair of short hiking boots that are more comfortable and easier to go up steep ridges with what are yalls suggestions? I’m not looking to spend a fortune but I will pay for quality boots that last. Thanks
Re: Boot Recommendations
Merrell Ventilators are my choice. You should get several seasons out of them.
Re: Boot Recommendations
It seems like reasonably priced boots suck anymore. I go through reasonably priced hiking boots like I've bought them from the flea mkt. The darn things have too much stitching designed into them for looks that typically blows apart after just months of day to day use.
I used to like Danner Pronghorns for mountain hunting, but their quality seens to have taken a plunge also and my ankles need a stiffer mountain type boot anymore. As far as waterproof.... I've little confidence in any boot but rubber staying dry.
I've a pair of Kennetreks that have performed well I both fronts so far. However, I wouldn't consider them reasonably priced and only have them because I got a heck of a deal. I did recently try on some Oboz Bridgers and liked them. My son has been wearing a pair for work the last month and really likes them.

I would love to get a pair of the Kennetreks on a deal. Walking in the mountains of Eastern Ky separates the mens from the boys in boots.Hobbes wrote: ↑February 12th, 2019, 1:06 pm It seems like reasonably priced boots suck anymore. Have a pair of upland boots by Danner and after 8 years they are losing the soles. Gonna glue them up and hopefully get one more season out of them

I have e a pair of Crispi Summit GTX 8” Boots and love them. They may be higher than what you want to pay. They $299.00. But I got mine at Blackovis for less.

Sal and I wear Merrill chameleons, gore Tex, great traction, comfortable and the lace system is awesome, draw string. and their super light.
At recemmondation of MikeMiller I got the under armour goretex, fat tire for Christmas, they have a Bridgestone sole. Mike hunts about. 70 days a spring. Says only boot he will wear.
I've worn um to town a few times so I really can't comment on them

The Oboz Bridgers are legit. I've got no complaints about the pair I've got.

I’ve been eyeballing the Crispi’s for 6-8 months, but they’re not cheap. I wear one of the Danner’s currently. I have given up on snake boots. This will be my first spring in Turtle Skin snake armor over hiking boots, or rubber boots, depending on location. I’ll own a pair of Crispi’s at some point.
Feel, don't think. Trust your instincts.
