Mexico 2018

Post by HarleyRiders97 »

I completed my Royal Slam last week while in Chihuahua, Mexico. I was concerned about our safety based on the US State Department warnings against travel there. During our trip, there were 6 of us, we never once ever felt threatened. In fact all of the local Mexican people we encountered they were very kind and hospitable. The hunting was great with all of us tagging out early in the hunt! We returned to El Paso, TX. without incident. The bird capes were checked thru at the border and all information forwarded to the US Fish and Wildlife for further paperwork. I unfortunately, along with 4 other hunters, suffered Montezuma's Revenge!!! After returning home I was hospitalized and am still suffering the consequences!!!! Should you go don't even eat anything at all that may have come in contact with water!!!!!

Congratulations to another successful Gould's hunter. Honestly, for anybody that is contemplating going to Mexico to hunt, in my opinion the safety concerns are blown way out of proportion. I live just north of El Paso and have gone down there several times, including a few where we went without going through an outfitter, and have never had any problems. As for the potential intestinal issues, well,...that's a "crapshoot".

Getting on the plane to head down there Sunday. Different outfitter but probably the same general area. We will be hunting around Yecora, Sonora. I'll try to avoid the revenge...

Congrats on your successful hunt. I hope you are back on your feet soon!
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
