Tom Kelly turkey stories

Post by bpettet »

I've never read any of his writings. What do you think of them? Are they pretty consistent or are some better than others? I was thinking of picking up his collection. Is there anywhere to read excerpts to get a feel for them?

His books are great. “The Tenth Legion” would be a great book to start with.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

You can probably find Tenth Legion at the library. If the local branch does not have it, I'd bet you can have it sent over from another branch.

Good point. I could check the library lending systems.

Sometimes, Amazon or other sellers will have excerpts of their books for sale. I haven't found that yet.

I have heard the most references to Tenth Legion. Are his others of similar quality?

Pretty much. He had a clunker or two (IMHO) but most of his stuff Is worthy.

Here is a sample. See for yourself. Mr. Kelly is in a league of his own and we are very fortunate to have him and his work. In the truck, I listen to him read his work traveling to and from the turkey woods. Nothing beats a coming sunrise, cup of coffee, Mr. Kelly and a new spring day to chase these birds.

I've been hunting and reading about hunting for over 40 years and have never even heard of Tom Kelly until recently. I read constantly so I look forward to reading/listening to his works.

Going to watch it tonight. Thanks for the links.

I haven’t checked if they are available on audio books. Sounds like that would be interesting.
