Wanted yall's opinions on these sounds

I have been designing a new call for the better part of the year. I am far from a "call maker" by trade.

I would appreciate yall's opinions on how yall think it sounds.

It does not sounds like a typical pot call.

Thanks

Cluck and purr great.. yelp hollow or jakey on back end. I would find a way to "crisp," or "tighten" the back end of the yelp. Kill for sure as is, to be top notch needs tweaked.

Not trying to come off mean, some of my best friends are some of the best call designers and makers and I'll give them equal critisism.

No I appreciate the feedback! My main thing about this call is coming up with something that sounds a little bit different. I am just so burned out on the glass pot calls. I want someone more throaty that's not as high pitched.

No I appreciate the feedback! On the back end do you mean the initial high note at the beginning of the yelp?
L
No front end or high note is fine, the back end is not crisp, it's hollow.

Honestly not trying to break your confidence or anything, just being honest, after it rolls over it's hollow.

And believe me, I am not being rude but honest. I build diaphragms, any critisism is accepted, only way to get better.

Don't know nothing about pots, so I cannot comment on raising lowering sound board, changing wood etc.

Sorry if this offends you

Never paid much attention to the back end, then. I am sure I will study up on it a little bit though.

I think sometimes people put too much emphasis on what their calls sounds like (pot, box, diaphragm etc. I know a few hunters that are not the greatest callers by any means but kill turkeys religiously, in my opinion woodsmanship is what makes a good turkey hunter. anybody can kill a turkey when he is "ready" but what makes a good hunter is when you can consistently kill them when they are not "ready"

Absolutely. Calls themselves no matter how good don't kill turkeys.its fun to try and make one that sounds as close to a turkey as possible but it's prob not gonna make or break your ability to kill turkeys.

As for the hollow sound and not much of a front end, the sound chamber is too big. Either shorten it or shallow it or maybe even both. The purrs are awesome though! Chris

What do you mean by the front end? That first high note?

Also, what do you mean by "hollow."

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.

Yes when your start a yelp closer to rim of call that's where your high end comes from then you snap the striker and get back end or rasp.

The backend sound is more like a Jake imo

Yeah, I have been told it does sound like a jake. Do you think that is necessarily a bad thing? I have heard a LOT of pot calls and have heard few that sound like a jake. However to me a jake and an old hen sound similar.

Yes, the first high note. The second note sounds hollow to me because the sound chamber is to big.

Have you tried using a different striker?

Never know what will work on any given day. Nothing wrong with that sound. Its turkey. Hunt with it enough and he will come on "that" day.
