Lots of gobbling this A.M

Post by Cleveland48 »

Sitting here in the deer stand this morning 60 degrees, no wind and overcast. 3 gobblers hammering away about 100 yards from me. Sure is giving me the fever!

Lots of gobbling this A.M

Yeah I've heard gobbling in the winter before even when it's cold but only one or two gobbles max. I bet I heard 60-70 gobbles this morning. Got me worried they may start to early this year.

Turkeys breed based on photoperiod....not temps. You're good! Although, mild winter temps can increase gobbling activity. Remember, the tom is pretty much always ready....he just can't do anything about it until his girlfriend is.

Wellllllllllll, the 1st Rio I killed in TX was a jake that I thought needed taken out of the gene pool. He was all fired up but couldn't find a hen so he dropped down & started having at the ground. At least that's what I was told he was doing.
