I'm familiar with Winchester but not the hunting..I do believe George Washington NF runs down into Va from WV.

George Washington National Forest lands are accessible about 30 miles south of Winchester. Lots of land to hunt but not many birds for the amount of land available. I have a friend that hunts there several times every spring and usually hears a bird or two. Thompson Wildlife Management Area (around 4,000 acres) is another option that is a little closer to Winchester.

I live here with RaspyD, but I've never hunted public land. Hell, I can't even kill them on private land. Give me a shout when you get here, you can buy my dinner!
