Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
I'm writing a screenplay for a movie. It's a guaranteed blockbuster, but I need some input on a major plot detail.
The jist:
It's the middle of turkey season. Early April. Deep South. At 4:00 a.m., you're just walking out the door to make the long drive to a public tract when - BOOM - out of nowhere two armed men grab you and toss you in the back of a van.
You're terrified. In the dark your thoughts race. Who are these people? What if I never see my family again?? What if someone kills that old gobbler I've been hunting for two weeks??????????
After an hour, the ride becomes bumpy; the van slows and stops. You are shoved outside onto an old logging road. You're in the middle of nowhere. You look up towards the van headlights and your jaw drops. There, on a long table, sits every turkey call produced in the last twenty years, a box of 3.5" Federal Premium #5 lead shot, and a Mossberg 835 ulti-mag.
The men hand you a note and instruct you to follow its directions before speeding away. In the dim nautical twilight, you hold the note close to your face and squint. You can barely make out the words. "Hello. You have until dark to kill a gobbler. You can take two calls. Don't fail."
In the distance, a gobbler hammers. Your heart races. You grab the box of shells. As you load the mossberg, another bird hammers. My question: what calls do you take?

Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
I'd probably rather just fail than hafta tell my buddies I was hunting with a Mossberg
That's easy...#1. The Morgan Call #2. KP trumpet.

Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
The Cane Creek Tuff Man mouth call and a bandaid to stop my nose from bleeding after shooting the 3.5" moss berg
Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
I would grab three shells, the two closest calls, load the gun, and run like hell to try to get under the roost tree before he flew down!
Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
Not for sure which ones but they'd be Gooserbat.
Momma did you hear that gooserbat?
Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
Knight And Hale Ol Yeller and a handful of rocks.
Put you plans in the nail scarred hands.
Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
If they hand me the shotgun and shells first....they've got a problem. I load the shotgun and shoot the two guys in the van, keep all of the calls, then I have three rounds left to kill one of the toms.
Or........I'd grab a couple mouth calls, kill one of the toms, take a nap, and still have 4 rounds to take care of the idiots in the van.......If the Mossy and Federal combo will actually shoot more than once. I'd still keep all the calls.

I roll over and go back to sleep. Because if I hear two on my place I know I'm dreaming.

I load the shotgun and shoot the two guys in the van, keep all of the calls, then I get my M2 and TSS loads out of the safe ,
then go fill my tags.

Come on guys. We all know that to be a good movie, you need at least 20 logical flaws in the story line. Plus, y'all aint exactly helping me fill my vest with certified turkey killers this spring.

Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
Right now he's carrying a primos power crystal and a true double II mouth call.
Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
The call won't matter much if the bird is gobbling that early on the roost...he's only gonna hear it once or twice anyway.

I'm taking the Lohmans 822 and the MADD MD340. And I'm fine with the Mossberg 835 and Federal Premium 3 1/2" #5's. if I can't kill him with that gun/shell combo I'll deligate myself to camp decoy washer for the rest of my life

I see a KP trumpet in my future, but not an 835! 2calls? Natural Addiction ghost cut, and Blackstone crystal with hickory strikerKPcalls wrote:Turkinator wrote:just spit coffee on keyboardWaddle Whacker wrote:I'd probably rather just fail than hafta tell my buddies I was hunting with a Mossberg

Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
Considering the issues I had last season with my trusted 870 jamming every time I turned around, I shouldn't be giving the Mossy a hard time.guesswho wrote:I'm taking the Lohmans 822 and the MADD MD340. As far as the loading a vest with "killers" goes. There are a number of calls that I prefer, but killing them doesn't take any special calls. You can get it done with most any call bought right off the shelf. It may not sound quite as sweet, but few toms are terribly picky. If they were, there are a lot of guys that would have to luck into a blind and deaf bird to kill one.

Re: Do or Die - Two Call Challenge
Dog whistle and predator call, er I mean squeeling hen...might as well use those anyway because I have no plans on ever shooting a tom with a 12ga again and for sure not with 3.5 shells...
