The sad part about this whole deal is that when gas gets under $2 a gallon, we think we're stealing the stuff. They have us right where they want us! :banghead:

Make Doug take you out to eat at either the Farmer's Market Restaurant or the Greek place on the main drag, if either are still there.

Yep. I've ate at about every place around there. I grew up about 10 miles from Plant City. I don't think the turkey population has ever fully recovered from those years.

So YOU'RE the reason Publix never had any turkeys!!!! :banghead: :violent3: :bootyshake:

I think we've had this convo years ago but I don't remember. Where? I was at MacDill for 3 1/2 years, Tampa for 3, & Brandon for 28.

I grew up in Mulberry. Lived there from 65 to 93. My parents still live in Willow Oak which is between Bartow and Plant City on Hwy 60 if you don't know where it's at.

I remember the very first Publix which was at Southgate Plaza in Lakeland.

Yep, know where all those places are. I used to take 60 through Bartow to Lake Wales then south on 27 to Palmdale to hunt at Fisheating Creek. Great turkey hunting area. I lived in the area from '69 to '04. It sure did change a lot over the years. Brandon used to be a little podunk town & I literally watched it grow up. 60 between Brandon & Tampa used to be pretty rural with dairy farms & a few small business. Last I was down there, it was solid business. 60 between Brandon & Bartow used to be a lot of farm land primarily berries. Is it still like that or is it become overgrown as well?

Once you get past Plant City on 60 heading toward Bartow there's really not a whole lot. It's more than it used to be, but still a lot of nothing but reclaimed phosphate land and pits. Mulberry hasn't added much on 60 other than a Badcock Warehouse, and I think a motel.

I killed a turkey or two at Fisheating Creek back in the day. I always liked that area.

Looks like Doug may have been bluffing about that impressive Jake collection. No PM, no phone number, no nothing. I figured it was to good to be true.

See,.. now that explains some things to me. I was wondering why Doug was having so much trouble killin a Gobbler down there.
Didn't realize the population was null, let alone they have been educated professionally. :toothy7: Now I know why he likes to go out of state so much!!!

Most stations are $1.78 on Woodruff Road in Greenville but we had a $0.35 discount at Spinx, so just filled up for $1.43 per gallon there. I think it was $1.69 at Sam's the other day.

Thanks,
Clark
