Okay which one ! Beard or spur ?

I think I have a possible couple birds around that may be multi-bearded and a couple with nice long hooks. Which would you rather take the multi-beard or the big spurs?.

I believe so. I have seen a few like that around here. I think especially this year when it rains and then gets cold at night and freezes their beards can stick to the branch and when they fly down some of it stays in the tree ouch!

I would take the multi bearded one. I have never shot one with more than one beard.

# 2 I could care less about beards. I dont even know if I have salvageable beard from a turkey I shot... Give me spurs 1 1/4 or better Yes I am happy

Bird number 2 but I dang sure wouldn't pass any of em up (well maybe number 4). It's tough to judge a birds trophy potential in the woods (no blinds this year, rt!!lol). Usually their beard is our first indication of maturity, followed by their tail (of course if they do a little spittin and drummin on the way in it helps) and then maybe their spurs. Most of this time we don't know much until we "ground" check them.

#3 it looks like it might be a double beard and the spurs seem to look about the same.

I'm not sure either of those will turn out to be a multibeard, if any number three might be a double. I'd take one of the long spurred birds any day.

Which ever one gives me the first shot but I do love those Hooks. Hooks would be what I would go after on those birds.

Yep, I'd go with the multibearded one also. Heck I kill birds all day long with 3" spurs, but never a multibearded one!

Hooks and beards...much rather have a set of hooks to show off, or a dbl or triple beard makes me happy too.

Thanks for your thoughts fellas. Man its a tough choice. I hope that one of those is a multibeard as I have never seen one of them on the ground but on the other hand them hooks are real nice too. I sure hope I get the chance to choose with a gun in my hand and just not on the pictures of them!
