Truck Bed Cover?

Post by guesswho »

Looking to buy a Tonneau Cover for my Tundra. The only experience I have with them is the vinyl roll up style. I think this time I want to go with a more rigid cover, but not the solid fiberglass style. Looking for something that would easily give me access to the entire bed if needed. I've seen a few on the market and was wondering if any of you have any experience with either of these, or another that you would recommend. Right now I'm leaning towards the Rollbak G2. I like the fold up design of the Peragon, but it seems like it may be a little less sturdy.

If I had it to do over, I'd get a Undercover classic hard cover. They are very lightweight and easily removed, but very strong. My hard folding cover(RuggedCover) is ok, but it's not exactly waterproof. I didn't really have a choice because it came on the truck when I bought it.

I may be getting older but at least I can stand in the bed of the truck and touch the top without jumping.

The older I get the more I appreciate remote control items.

I know you said you were looking for a soft top, but I really like this one. It is hard & is a Dodge product so I don't know if they are made for other trucks.

It has 4 hinged parts that fold up. The 1st section closest to the cab folds towards the back & the other 3 accordion fold towards the cab. You can't have all 4 opened at the same time. The attachment to the bed is at the hinge between the 1st & 2nd panels. There are locks on the 1st & 4th sections.

No, what you have is similar to what I'm looking at. I'm looking at aluminum tops that roll like a roll up door.

Just got a standard Undercover hard tonneau.
Very happy with it.
Light weight
Easily removed
It's waterproof for sure.
Drove thru heavy rains with no problems.
I'm not sure u will get one any better for
Less money. $900 installed plus tax
Used it this turkey season.
Absolutely loved it. The plain Black matched my black
F150 Supercrew very well.

How long would it take one person to remove and put back on?

From what I know, they are very easily removed. I believe that the front hinges are made where you just raise the top higher than normal and the hinges separate without tools. Then just lift it off. I think it weighs about 40lbs.
Of course, all of this could be wrong. :toothy7:

Mine is just a snap down cover but it's waterproof. Bad thing is, I got to empty it every time we stop at a motel on a turkey trip. Locking and waterproof would be high priority.
That's just my useless information...

This is what I have. I rarely put an atv on it but it is great for extra space. I strap coolers chairs etc to the top. Mine is line-x coated to make it black and add durability. Made by Diamondback truck covers. If you see how it opens from 2 directions, you can remove 1 half at a time need be. If i have something tall that needs to sit in there a half comes of in about 30 seconds with a small hitch pin.

I thought about getting one for my truck, but then realized you can't haul anything big or dump anything in it. I use a truck for a truck. Not to impress people running around in the city.

This is why I like the diamond back. I can have that apart in 30 seconds. I dont haul big items all the time so no need for the bed to be open. Whats more important to me is that I can lock all my hunting stuff in the bed of my truck so I can fly home from work jump in the truck and still grab a few hours of hunting time. The gear is safe in the bed with the cover.

I'm more into impressing people in the city than I am hauling stuff.

If you put a little more thought into it you might also realize you can still haul big stuff, when you really want to impress city folks. Most of these roll back. fold up or come off completely with minimal effort.

Guess who,
I can have my undercover removed pretty quickly.
In 15 minutes I can have it off the truck
By myself. Awkward due to size , but 1 guy can remove
The undercover.

I currently have this cover on my new truck and love it. It is 100% water proof, even water proof against car washes and pressure washers. It rolls up very nice and makes for easy access to the front of the bed.

http://rollnlock.com/truck-bed-products ... neau-cover

I had the Undercover hard cover on my last truck and hated it. It does not lift high enough to easily access the front of the bed. When I needed to haul something over height, I was never in a location where I could leave the cover off. It may be good if you never need access to things in the front of the bed or haul items that are taller than the side of the truck but it was not good for me. I have a camper shell on my hunting truck and it work well for what I use it for but would not want it on a truck I drive every day.
