Sunday morning we got after a bird we roosted the evening before. He worked great and put on a show for us. Little Easton was up to bat first and she clobbered him at 31 yds. She's 9 yrs old, this was her 10th bird but her first with blackpowder and her first in kentucky. He was 21.6 lbs, had a 9.25" beard and 1" spurs.
Next up was 12 yr old big sis, Mekayla. At 1:30 we got on a pair of birds with 9 hens. After a little Appalachian sneaking and some soft calls, both longbeards rolled by at 27 yds. Mekayla floored the strutter and completed a perfect day for all of us. He was a hoss, 23.5 lbs, 9.5" beard and 1 3/8" hooks. That was her 16th Longbeard.
The tss loads increased the effectiveness of that smoke pole by leaps and bounds and to say the least, I'm proud of my girls.
Sounds like all had a good time,,,,that's what it's all about.
