Did some patterning today LeadxTSS

Post by GALongbeardSmacker » March 8th, 2015, 7:47 pm

Did a little patterning today, I'll post pics from my computer later, it messes up on my phone sometimes.

20 ga 870, 21" barrel with .560 Kicks choke
.975 oz of TSS 9 and .65 oz of nickel plated lead 6.75ish (.102" diameter)
16" wide pattern at 20 yds
40 yds- 203-10". 216-20"

12 ga Stoeger M3500 flush mount .675 Carlsons
1 oz TSS 9 and 1-1/4 oz Nickel plated lead 6.75ish (.102" diameter)
Huge pattern at 20 yds, killing density out to 25" diameter
40-yds 237-10" 193-20" first shot.
249-10" 176-20" second shot.

The 12 ga load is Hal's econo load. The 20 ga load is not a tested load but I'll be sending it off. Hal helped with the initial load but I had to make some changes to it based on his knowledge.

I really like the 40 yd pattern of the 20ga better. I have another choke for the 12 ga to try and I think it will get me there.

Did anyone else ever shoot these?

I killed 4 with the duplex load last year. I cant decide if I want to shoot them this year or roll with an all TSS load.

I did not shoot any at a turkey last year, but plan on hunting exclusively with this load this spring. I feel certain it will do what I need it to do here in Tennessee.

I use a duplex load in the open barrel of my sxs and a full tss load in the right. The duplex load counted for four birds last year, with one out to forty.
