Franchii Affinity 20 patterns ICBDS .555

Post by joshua »

Hevi 3" 1.25 #7 10" @ 40yds. I've shot this combo a total of 7 times now and 5 are very consistent.(mid 170s to mid 180s) The 2 patterns that have me scratching my head are 2 shells from the same box with the same lot# as the other boxes I shot. I even counted the holes twice and counted the snowmen as 1 on the second count. From comparing the size of the holes even I can tell the size of the shot just isn't the same. Also took one shot @ 25 just to see how tight it will be upclose. I'm gonna run with it this season while I wait on my orders to arrive to load some TSS.

Those are smokin!!!!! You might even find that the Hevi pattern is tighter at 25 than the TSS. Good stuff!

Wow, those are the highest counts I can ever recall with a 20 ga HS shell. Some guys don't do that well with 2 oz in a 12 ga.

I ordered 4 boxes from MPW. 3 of those have the same lot #. The odd lot# shoots the lowest. I've shot 3 shells out of it and all were low 170s. The other 4 shots have came from the same lot. Whats the chances of me getting smaller shot in these loads? Looking at the holes in the paper something just looks fishy. Those 2 in the 200s just don't look the same.

Going by Hals shot chart there should be around 347 or so pellets in the 1.25 Hevi 7 shells. I'm gonna count the 25 yard pattern when I get a chance cause I believe there are way more than 347 pellets on that sheet of paper. I would say most of the pattern hit the poster board. This range I'm using has been laser shot, stepped off and counted numerous times by me and others so the distance is right.

I bought some of those Dunns HS 7.5 duck loads a couple of years ago to rob the shot. The 7.5s (which is reported to be what all H13 7s really are) counted 365/oz. Nominal count for 7s is 278/oz and nominal count for 7.5s is 324. So those loads were definitely closer to 8s (381/oz) than they were to 7s. Never know about HS.

Smoking patterns.. I remember on the other board a few years ago when a new guy posted up patterns he shot at Gobbler Guns with the Hevi 1 3/4 oz load of 6s.. He posted insanely good patterns, like 250s.. Guys were calling him a liar etc.. Until you looked at the total count from the Lucky Weasel of total pellets and it totaled over 600, did it make sense.. I have another friend that shoots that same loading he got from Rob and the pellet count is somewhere close to 600 in the shell.

I agree with all that has been said. I usually don't get into the whole numbers game but after shooting these patterns I figured I would show them to you guys and see what ya'll think. From looking at others patterns I could see 150 averages with these shells but the counts I'm getting just lead me to believe that the shot in these are different.
