o/u 20 gauge recommendations please
Looking for recommendations for a over/under 20 gauge shotgun.....
Wounded big game tracker with dogs...
Re: o/u 20 gauge recommendations please
The Yildiz O/U marketed by Academy is pretty nice for the price. I got the compacts and bought it when I had $100 off coupon. Effectively paid $360 out the door. Got a Sumtoy rib mount for my Vortex Venom. The compact model has a 24" barrel and weighs about 5.2 pounds. I changed out the recoil pad with a limbsaver and had great results in recoil reduction over stock pad. Sumtoy regularly cuts chokes for the Yildiz thread pattern. I'm sure you can get a few other companies to do the same, but the thread pattern is proprietary to Yildiz.

The Stevens 555 is a really nice budget friendly O/U.
Re: o/u 20 gauge recommendations please
I looked at those as well before buying the Yildiz. What thread pattern does the Stevens use?BrowningGuy88 wrote:The Stevens 555 is a really nice budget friendly O/U.

Yildiz O/U are sweet, I've looked at them at local Academy.jhogue wrote: ↑June 13th, 2019, 12:24 pm The Yildiz O/U marketed by Academy is pretty nice for the price. Have you had any issues with the receiver glare spooking birds?
Re: o/u 20 gauge recommendations please
You may be familiar with them but I would be looking for one with double triggers if you’re planning on shooting two different constriction chokes. I quit shooting an o/u because I didn’t like fumbling with the barrel selector when turkeys were up close.
Re: o/u 20 gauge recommendations please
The Yildiz O/U is a bad little shotgun!! I have a sumtoy vent rib mount for my FF 3. I had to add a shim to get it zero. Paired it with two Trulock .581 precision hunter extended chokes. I also added a Sims limb saver recoil pad. It’s extremely light weight and was a pleasure to tote this past spring.
Here is mine.

Is that gun dipped or is that wrap?
Re: o/u 20 gauge recommendations please
VA it is hydro dipped. Ole boy out of Robertsdale, AL did the dip on it. Not a high end dip but accomplished what I was looking for on this budget build. I was unsure how I would like an O/U and did not want to invest a large sum of money into the build. Being I love the results and how this gun patterns I will go for a higher end dip if I ever need to redo it.

Leadchunker I shoot hand loads through this build. She likes 9's and 8.5's with the current set up. I personally like to shoot 8's so I may experiment with those at a later date.

Fo sho. The CZ Mallard would be my choice, and can be found pretty frequently. One on gun broker right now.
Feel, don't think. Trust your instincts.

I like the Stevens 555 20ga o/u. You don't have to worry about a shiny receiver on the 555 either.

KOFS are Stevens are ATI.
