Okay with a budget of around $800 would you buy a Franchi AL48, CZ Bobwhite, or CZ Woodcock?
This will be my first 28ga. Read several reviews and all of the these are good options.

I just went through this and I came down to three options:

Double barrel - Bobwhite
Auto - AL48 or A400
Pump - Ithaca 37

I bought a bobwhite off the classifieds here.

How do you like the Bobwhite?

I like it a lot. I haven’t hunted it as I ran out of time by the time I got it this season.

It’s light. It sits well on the knee. Two chokes, two triggers gives wide 20 yard pattern and tight 40-50 yard pattern at the slight readjusting of my finger.

I also have shot a 20 gauge CZ side by side for years now wing shooting so I was already familiar with the gun.

Cant speak for the turkey killing with the 48AL, but I can say that it's a light gun to carry and a dream for just about any wingshooting. Shot everything from quail up to ducks with it.

Okay looked at some 28's the other day at local gun shop. First was a CZ 628 28ga pump. This gun surprised me, well balanced and fairly light. Ported barrel with ivory front bead. Seemed to be well made...solid. Will consider this one. Next was the Tristar G2 semiauto 28ga. Well balanced and light. Red front bead. Wood has a high gloss finish on it, not good. Other than that nice gun. I held the two next to each other and the Tristar was about an inch longer overall.
Also held an ATI .410 O/U sweet little gun. Super light and shouldered well.
So the search continues, gonna check out another shop that has 28 O/U.

None. Buy flowers at the boutique,,, not sub-gauges.
