28 ga contender Apex patterns

Post by onegoodshot »

The weather finally cooperated with my work schedule and I got to shoot the 28 ga contender.
Apex 9.5’s at 40 yds was good for 139.
I’m going to adjust the Burris fast fire down a click or two and I’ll be good to go.
These are barrels from the t/c custom shop before they closed. Match Grade Machine did the vent ribs and the tubes are from Colonial Choke and Tool.

Is that load a 1 3/8oz or a 1.5oz?

How many more pellets in the 10 you think you’ll pick up when re adjusting the site?

Beautiful Encore!

This is a 28ga CONTENDER. These are uber rare.

That is probably as good as it gets. I purposely moved the ring up a little because the pattern was most dense about 3 inches above the bullseye. A few clicks should help with that.

Very nice! MGM is starting to make 410, 28, 20 and 12 barrels for the TCs. 410 and 28 for the Contender.

I’ll have to check on the load. Everything is at th farm.

MGM is making the 410’s with base barrel starting at $395 . They have been promising the 28ga forever. I wanted to get a chance to see just what the tss would do.

139 seems low. A 28 gauge shooting 9's or 9.5's has more potential than that.

Oops sorry 😐

I hope to be testing the 28ga shells here in a week or 2. Weather is just starting to be better.
