New sub gauge
28ga will be a nice one to tote. 4.8lbs. Sent it back to Tristar for trigger work because you could hang a cinder block from it and it wouldn’t go off :/. Hope it comes back acceptable if not it’s off again. [emoji32]

Re: New sub gauge
Do they do that for no charge? And is there some range of pull weight they shoot for?

Re: New sub gauge
They told me they would take care of it. We’ll see how that works out... Said it would be back out just a couple days after they receive it. They got it Monday. I don’t know what weight they will shoot for but it has to be better than it was. I don’t expect Citori quality but it was bad. I will have to pay for the trigger itself because I broke it trying to drift out the pin but the rest should be on them.

I would tell them to fix it all
Should’ve been perfect when you received it

Dig that weight. Is the stock straight or cast off?

Re: New sub gauge
Straight I think. Didn’t really look. I may shoot some clays with it but because it will mainly be a Turkey gun I wasn’t concerned with that at the time. [emoji52] Now you've got me thinking. It will be fun on the sporting course.howl wrote:Dig that weight. Is the stock straight or cast off?

Re: New sub gauge
Looks nice, congratulations! I hope they work that trigger out for you. Looking forward to your shooting reports.

Re: New sub gauge
Happened to see one today. Stock was slightly cast on. Lower barrel would probably print a quarter pattern low if choke threads are straight.
If I had not been in a work vehicle I would have brought it home.

Was it a 28ga? I had to order mine, no one had them in stock around here...howl wrote:Happened to see one today. Stock was slightly cast on. Lower barrel would probably print a quarter pattern low if choke threads are straight.

Yup. Big gun shop in plantation country. They carry lots of subgauges for quail shooters.

Re: New sub gauge
Well 1 up for Tristar. The gun came back home today. Mailed it last Thursday evening and it’s fixed and back 8 days later. They replaced the trigger lightened the pull and smoothed out the safety, no charge. The trigger isn’t where I would like it to be but it is acceptable, hope it works in some. Now if the rain will stop I can sling some 9s through it to see if I need a tighter tube.

Re: New sub gauge
Well the saga continues with the Tristar. Received my Indian Creek choke today and it won’t go in the gun but about a half an inch. It’s mics about .003 larger on average up the choke. I spoke to someone a IC today and he said they would turn down the choke to match the factory one. Off it goes tomorrow...
He said they have had problems with Benelli chokes due to different tolerances.

Re: New sub gauge
I best send him mine before I get it ordered. Shipping isn’t much and won’t need to ship back if mine has the same issuedoublegobble1 wrote: ↑March 14th, 2019, 10:16 pm Well the saga continues with the Tristar. Grovtec swivel set came in. Just a little filing to clear the vent between the barrels re blue and she fits like glove.

I was surprised at how solid the split band stud is. It doesn’t wiggle at all! Really good stuff.hoobilly wrote:good job JP! looks like thats solid!
