What's the 90/93 load I see on some people's post. Also what's everybody's favorite 20 guage 3" load? I am new to reloading and just wondering. Thanks.

Contact "Shooter" on here. He is the developer of the 90/93. Buy some shot from him and he will supply you with the recipe.

Any other good 3" 20 guage loads out there

The only problem you may encounter with the 90/93 is obtaining the 93 wad. Shooter did have some but I don't know now. Almost any seller of tss has a good 20ga load to offer.

None as easy as loading the 90/93

Patterns so good why shoot anything else?

90/93 all the way for me.

I shoot a 20 gauge Affinity. Any Italian design auto you have, your gonna need to do a lil hull trimming and make sure you cut the 93 wad low enough to give the finished load a short enough overall length to feed/cycle.

If I was shooting a pump or breech loader, Hal's MOA is hard to beat if you can handle the recoil.

Why not just shoot a 2.75" 1 5/8oz load? That would be easier than having to trim the hull and cut the wad just right. Also, if you cut the 93 too much, you are going to lose cushion and the pressures will rise.

Why?
It's the most consistent hunting load I've seen with my gun and it's easy to load. I've got plenty of supplies.

Nothing to hull trimming. It's easy with a dowel and razor.

I have cut the wads the same length repeatedly with no issues. There is still plenty of cushion, I usually cut it around the 1/2 way mark if I remember correctly.

My gun shoots the load great with a .582 Undertaker (it was too tight with a .570 tightwad). My buddy's little Mossberg shoots it almost too tight with a truglo.

Definitely stick with what works for ya! I haven't saw a 1 5/8oz out perform another, so I just go with the most simple.

There are a lot of good loads out there, some are easier to load than others.

Of my 1-5/8oz loads, the Lil Hammer is one of the easiest to load and components are readily available. I've tested and developed many loads and it patterns the best and most consistent for me. It gets very good feedback as well. Thor is the easiest load I have, but I like the LH better. That said, with a little choke tinkering Thor does about the same.

You kind of have to decide what maximum range you really need. If a fella truly never intends to shoot past 50yds, 1-1/4oz is more than enough. If you must go long, 1-5/8 is nice. Anything more is overkill bigtime plain and simple.

1 5/8 oz loads can definitely get you out there further than a person should be reasonably shooting at a turkey in my opinion.

The 2 oz loads help fill the 20" circle at 40 with more open choke combos.

I shoot the 90/93 load almost exclusively. I shoot it out of a Benelli M2 with no trimming and no problems. The difference is I fold crimp instead of roll crimp. I fold on an old Mec600 Jr. Then finish with the Gaep finisher. Works perfectly in my gun.

I have the components on hand now to load the lil Hammer. Should be a winner!!!

I've loaded most of the popular 20 gauge 3 inch loads and to me the lil hammer is the easiest to load. Waiting on a day off to pattern it.

x2 for the 3" fold crimped 90/93! It's a breeze to load and will flat out hammer a turkey!

are you sure about that?

Others might correct me if my thinking is wrong, but the sole purpose for the 93 is to keep lil gun from leaking. The cushion is only a filler.

I would think that the pressures from a longer cushion would increase pressure while shorter will decrease it.Since the cushion compresses over a longer point of time before actually pushing the shot forward, which has more burnt powder happening than if the cushion was cut off and as the powder ignites it starts pushing the wad and shot instantly.

may be totally wrong on this way of thinking

I'm no expert by far but just from reading on hear I'd think leaving any or part of the cushion and lengthening the shell would lower pressure. Seems like cutting all the cushion off the 93 and shell being shorter would increase pressure. That's just what I've comprehended from on here reading that lengthening a shell and adding cushion will lower pressure and velocity but I could be totally wrong to. Wont be the first time or last.

Do you leave part of the cushion or do you cut it right down to the top of the gas seal of the 93?
