Choke filing
Choke filing
Tried the choke filing that poorcountrypreacher posted about how to make both barres shot to poa/poi. I have a ATI Cavalry O/U .410, and the bottom barrel shot 6” + higher than the top barrel. This is how it’s shooting now. I filed the choke in the bottom barrel from 3 o’clock to 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock to 6 o’clock with a chainsaw file only a few strokes, and this is how it shoots now. Choke filing works!!!! Steve

Re: Choke filing
How does your Cavalry pattern TSS? You shooting factory tubes? I couldn't get mine to shoot worth a flip
Re: Choke filing
Mine didn’t shot good at 40 with factory chokes!! I got a Briley .375 2” choke, and it shot 199 in the 10” at 40 yards. Got in the 160’s with a SumToy choke. The SumToy choke was a real even pattern. After getting 199 in the 10 at 40 yards it dropped off about 60 percent at 50 yards.

Dang that's impressive. Sounds like I shouldn't give up on it just yet. Thanks2Shooter wrote: ↑February 5th, 2018, 10:20 pm Mine didn’t shot good at 40 with factory chokes!! Re: Choke filing
Congrats on getting it to shoot where you want. That should be a fine turkey gun.
Re: Choke filing
Thanks preacher, at 4.25 lbs it's going to make a great late season gun for hunting those high mountain gobblers, and the bottom barrel will be good for when they get up close and personal!!! Thanks, for your help!!! Stevepoorcountrypreacher wrote: ↑February 5th, 2018, 11:37 pm Congrats on getting it to shoot where you want. That should be a fine turkey gun.
Re: Choke filing
That might be the lightest .410 that's not a single barrel. What did ATI say about a warranty claim?
Re: Choke filing
I haven't even talked to them because it's so close to turkey season. Needed a quick fix to get by with till after turkey season!!! I will email them, will let you know what they say howl.
Re: Choke filing
I think with the ATI Cavalry .410 the chokes only go down in the barrel 1", and that makes a choke that sticks out of the barrel 2" a better option for this gun. Other guns where the choke goes further down in the barrel SumToy's choke is the best option.crenshawco wrote: ↑February 5th, 2018, 10:27 pmDang that's impressive.
