New TriStar Viper G2 410
I was just on TriStar's website and they have the new Viper G2 410 listed at 5.7 lbs. but yet the Viper G2 28 ga. is listed at 5.2 lbs, wonder what the deal is here? I have the G2 28 ga. and was thinking very serious about getting the 410 but for the life of me I can't figger why the 410 weighs more than the 28 ga.
Re: New TriStar Viper G2 410
I want a 5 pound or less 410 semi auto or 8 pound semi auto 10. Even thought about getting the drill after one and taking away some extra stuff. Just not sure what is extra and what is extra important

Re: New TriStar Viper G2 410
The Viper 28 ga. has it's own receiver and is just a scaled down version of the 20 ga. like the 20 ga; has it's own receiver also and is not built off of the 12 frame, I just can't figger why the 410 would weigh 5.7 pounds when the 28 only weighs 5.2, even if it was built on the 28 ga. frame it still should weigh less than the 28 ga. Shouldn't it?????
Re: New TriStar Viper G2 410
You would think it would weigh less strut. I sent TriStar a message to see why it weighs more than the 28ga. Will let you know what they say.

Thanks 2Shooter, I really like the 28 ga. I have as it is light and shoulders very well, I modified a Burris Speed Bead mount for it and put a FF III on it. I want to take a couple of birds with it this year THEN on to the 410.
Re: New TriStar Viper G2 410
My daughter has the viper 28 as well. I almost wonder if this 410 from Tristar is the same 410 that tr imports sales?
Re: New TriStar Viper G2 410
i wonder if they used the 28 frame and cut 410 hole in it then used thick barrel for 410 pressure
Re: New TriStar Viper G2 410
I think it is the same frame as the 28ga. To step down from 28ga frame to a 410 barrel requires more steel to transition. Every shotgun built on a larger shotgun frame will typically weigh more than the shotgun of the bigger gauge. I had a beretta 28ga barrel on a 20ga frame that weighed about .5lbs more than the 20ga barrel on the 20ga frame.

Re: New TriStar Viper G2 410
I just got off the phone with TriStar and the 410 is built off the 28 ga. frame so that's why it's a 1/2 lb. heavier. Man I wish Benelli made the M2 or Franchi made the Affinity in a 410.

Guess I will stick with my 4.25 lb ATI Cavalry O/U .410!

What mount did you use to modify so that it would work properly?turkeyinstrut wrote: ↑January 7th, 2018, 9:29 amThanks 2Shooter, I really like the 28 ga. Benelli M2 20 ga. mount, it was purdy easy. You do have to taper one ot the plastic shims that comes with the SpeedBead mount so the sight will set level, I did it on a belt sander.Fireman61 wrote: ↑March 10th, 2020, 5:20 pmWhat mount did you use to modify so that it would work properly?turkeyinstrut wrote: ↑January 7th, 2018, 9:29 amThanks 2Shooter, I really like the 28 ga.
