I have looked at a yildiz and an ati, 410 but after seeing your stevens i believe ill give them a look over. Who carries them and how do they compare in price to the ati or yildiz which are in the450 to500 range

The Stevens 555 is essentially the same gun as the ATI Cavalry. Both are made by Kofs in turkey. I have a stevens 555 and a Cavalry and they are the exact same gun except for a couple of minor esthetic things. Savage claims they hold tighter tolerances on the 555 than the same guns from Kofs, but I don't know if that is true or not.

Stevens is around $600 and the Cavalry is $450-$500. Cabelas and Dicks carry the 555 and a whole bunch of places carry the Cavalry. If I was do to it again, I would get the Cavalry 28ga and .410 combo for around $700 online.

Here is a review I wrote up on the 28ga forum to show the differences:

Stevens 555 in .410

That is a sweet gun. I would have had a hard time dipping that one because it was pretty to begin with, but I like the results. The only guns we had growing up were Stevens and Savage because the factory was close by and we could afford them; sometimes we bought the "seconds". I still have a soft spot for anything Stevens. I'd love to put a scope on one of those.

TruGlo Magnum Gobble Dot Pro-Series is the sight

As far as the rear sight position, the closer the sight is toward the back for me I noticed I have a better chance of a left and right variance on the front sight. Everything is in focus at the same time and as I get older this works for me as the focal point is in line to the front sight. I once saw a picture of a gun that had the rear sight tight to front one. I thought that was odd but may end up there one day.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Denny
I may have to try this too....I'm seeing almost double on the rear site, and no I wasn't drinking... Anyhow, it came out fine. Hope you kill several with it.
