I also shot my benelli m2 20 guage sumtoy ckoke ...... The point of aim is off bad ..... So I will have to tinker with it later in ....

Williams Fire Sights will cure That ! Unless you put a Reddot or Scope on it !PreacherRitchie wrote:I'm at home now the pattern is at my work / shooting range I can post it up tomorrow .....

I'm going to have to do something
Re: Are these numbers good
I think that is about the average for that load. Nothing outstanding, but plenty to kill bird and it's got a little wiggle room.

Re: Are these numbers good
I think a 140-145 average is ideal with that load if you are looking at both a 10 and 15 inch pattern.. 20 inch is kinda worthless with that load.

Re: Are these numbers good
I averaged mid 120's out of my 870 before I went to TSS and I was ok with it. I would've preferred 140, but I killed quite a few birds very dead with it.
Feel, don't think. Trust your instincts.

That's good with that load. You may get better with a diff lot#.
Re: Are these numbers good
Good numbers with the HW. Lots of knockdown power with the sevens. Good luck!

I really like to look at pattern density and if there are no large holes in your pattern, so a bird can't escape. Those numbers should be fine.PreacherRitchie wrote:H&r 20 guage single shot ... Lengthen forcing cone ...polish barrel.... Thread for sumtoy ckoke ...topped off with fastfire ...

Several years ago, I was surprised by what worked with those shells. I shot a pattern on a cold January day, not exactlly the best for trying to optimize patterns but found out that by squeezing that wad, defeating its intended purpose, I got the best patterns.

Since that time, that's what I've done and it works for me.
Incidentially, I like to pattern in weather that is most like the weather when I expect to hunt in the spring and summer. Cold days don't produce the best patterns but they are likely to be more realistic.
Good luck with your gun.
Thanks,
Clark

Curious Clark, what does that Ambush choke put up for numbers with that load.. It is tight and seems long.

Re: Are these numbers good
The average is probably in the 150s to 160s, from what I've seen and heard from a pretty diverse group of hunters who've used one in spring and fall temperatures. Most of these folks however are not really counters of holes in paper but strictly hunters.ICDEDTURKES wrote:Curious Clark, what does that Ambush choke put up for numbers with that load.. I probably should try one in some of this summer heat but I've just not done that.
Thanks,
Clark

Re: Are these numbers good
Those are good numbers in the 10. Hard to burn up shells, but if that's just one shot, no telling what the next would do. Too bad Federal HW doesn't have #8 shot. A third more shot in each load with the 15 g/cc density #8 would be a tough hombre. Probably wouldn't be legal in all states, but that's just a guess. I suppose one size fits all if you make shotshells commercially. I know #9 isn't legal in all states, but that's out of ignorance of tungsten shot density. Gil
