Starting point for 1-3/4 oz #9 out of M3500

Post by MeadowCreekMounts »

Not much talk around here about the Stoegers. Can anyone give me a starting point for 1-3/4 oz TSS #9? I have anywhere from a .640- factory flush mount.

Well heck, I guess I'm the Stoeger guy on here. I normally run 2oz though a .675 out of a 3". Shoots more than tight enough.
Usually shoot 2 and a half oz with the 3.5" through a .690. Pattern is downright Nasty!
A .640 would be way, way too tight for TSS. Heck, it was too tight for my lead loads too!

Thanks I'll probably start with factory full and see what it will do. Yeah I figured my .640, .650, and .656 would be too tight but you never know.

Those numbers are ideal. No need for the high dollar chokes.

Thinking about seeing what the 2 oz load can do with a little more open choke. I want to see a good spread at 25 yds.

Ain't gonna matter. Not gonna matter what more open choke you use. TSS is already a more open patterning shot up close. What you have is a super pattern. Let it ride.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that

Everybody loves to tinker, including myself. But I would not change a thing.

Sounds like you have perfect hunting pattern! Resist the urge to tinker. I wish I could.

Thanks for the comments. I ordered the stuff I need for a 2 oz load, so I still might load one up just to see what it will do out of a modified or improved cylinder. I wish I would have waited to order it until after shooting... oh well.
