buddy of mine has a 1187 21" barrel that the best he has ever been able to get in 10"@40 yds was 137 with heavy-blend 5-6-7.i load some tss i got recipes from hal that we tried.
1..680 put such a bad pattern we didn't measure
2. .668 put 132 in 10" circle
3. .665 ic put 167/172
4. .668 straight rifle choke (rem) was 127/148
5. .660 tru-glo 173/190
6. .655 ic 237/265 #8 tss
7. .655 ic 297/307 #9 tss
i am not a fan of tight chokes but had no choice on this gun.just goes to show guns are different

Just for giggles I would polish the barrel and check around the forcing cone for any roughness, sizing, ect. Who knows what you mite find. They are mass produced and every one mite not be spot on.

firedup I'm sure you are spot on but it isn't my gun and he is happy.i had a gun smith years ago tell me remington had some of the roughest forcing cones.i stay clear of doing modifications on other people s guns as most want a miracle and don't understand whats involved.i can't count the times LONG TIME hunters thought all bullets or shells should shoot the same poi.
