Browning 10ga Gold.

Post by UPEgger » November 9th, 2017, 10:54 pm

Walked into a gun store in Yuma, AZ today and ...... On the used gun rack(consignment) was a Browning Gold 10ga semi auto shotgun. Black synthetic stock, steel receiver. The barrel length is 28". It comes with a Briley mod choke. Been kinda looking for that model for about 6+ years.

I have the twin to that shotgun, except that it has the 24" barrel. It has been my primary called predator weapon of choice for about 25 years, or so.... If my memory is correct.

This has been a good day.

How old a model is the steel receiver? Congrats on finding what you’ve been looking for!

I guess I purchased my 1st one in 1996 I purchased it new in Pensacola, FL.
The last 5 digits on the new one is : NVR91. Mfg: 1995
The last 5 digits on my old one is: NTR91. Mfg: 1996

Years of mfg for the Browning Gold...... 1993-1998

The R91 indicates it is a 10ga Gold.

So evidently my new one is older than my 1st one. Hmmmm..... Going backwards?????

Sometime in 1998 Browning evidently changed the name from Gold to Hunter/Stalker. No indication of receiver material. I would suspect this is when the aluminum receiver came into being.

All 10ga, gold, hunter and stalker autos are/were mfg in Japan.

Shooter; Sounds like your Gold is the same model as my 1st one. I prefer the 26" bbl.

I have the SP10 with 2 barrels... turkey barrel 21" rile sights and a 24" vent rib for fowl hunting

have killed a lot of ducks and geese with it. Yet I still havent killed a gobbler with it. and theres a story for that...

Shooter; I must correct myself. My 1st Browning Gold 10ga has a 24" barrel, not a 26". The 2nd one has a 28" barrel. It is the 24" barrel that is my favorite. Although a 26" would be a nice compromise. Perhaps one day???????.....

I went on a roll of 26"s there for awhile. First the Big 10, then a cheap azz Verona, Stoeger 2000, Beretta extrema 3.5, then Lily's M1 20ga.
All 26s. Come to think of it, I also went on a rifle kick of 26s. 260, 264 mag, 26 Nos, and 6.5x 284
