Oh my knee!

Man I’m walking around like Gimpy was before my nephew kilt him.
Some say I must have tore the miniscus?

But it comes and goes? Hurt a year ago and acts up every now n again.

If it’s your miniscus, wouldn’t that be permanent?

At night if it hurts I can bend the knee and it takes all the pain away.

Ideas?

Mine didn't hurt all the time. Walking down hill would irritate it pretty bad. And any lateral movement would aggravate it. I've torn meniscus in both knees and the acl in the right. Th only knee that hasn't given me any trouble yet is my wenee. And I figure that's not to far off.

I discovered a problem with my wenee at a early age of 8. I grew on and off sporadically

:LMAO:

I don’t want a torn miniscus. After walking out from a tree stand couple nights ago in soft dirt might have bothered my knee.

I don’t want surgery

Surgery wasn't a big deal. In fact two hours after surgery I was walkIng around the lake with my Wife, never had to use crutches, although the Foctor said it would be a good idea. That was just with the meniscus. The acl surgery was a little more intense, but even that wasn't bad. I could have gotten around without crutches then, but the Doctor said I should use them for at least a couple weeks and would prefer 4-6 weeks. I used them most of the time for about a week. I haven't had any other issues with either knee since.

My wife repeatedly tore her meniscus until the material built up so much she had to have it cleared out. It started when she played basketball in HS. Over the years it'd happen over again. She walks several miles per day at work. She spends about a dozen hours per week icing her knee to reduce swelling. I really hate it for her. She is determined to avoid any more surgery unless she absolutely cannot manage.

Most of these problems we fellows have with our knees and back can be helped by trimming the fat. That last comment was directed at myself!

I just had an MRI 2 weeks ago and got my great news. I too have tore my meniscus and have a cyst from a previous tear that didn't heal right, she also said that there is no cartilage left between my bones in my knee and will need a replacement ( Hence the popping noise ) I told her we will talk next June, my spring is already planned. No pain, no gain!

I damaged my right knee playing HS football in '66. Then had a drunk run a stop sigh & I hit him with my motorcycle requiring reconstructive surgery on the same knee. The knee stared acting up in 2011 & I started wearing a brace. That fall, I was turkey hunting in NY & it really started affecting me to the point I couldn't hunt any more. I did try to get 1 last hunt in, had my vest on, my gun loaded & slung over my right shoulder, walked behind the truck & fell flat on my face. On January 16, 2012, I had the right knee replaced, took a kid out on the youth weekend hunt in April & hunted 3 weeks in Ohio & 1 in NY.

Long story short, if you can get the knee replaced soon, do it. The surgery wasn't that bad & the recovery not too long & didn't affect my spring seasons at all.

It sounds exactly the same as my left knee. (Nights are unbearable at times) Have an appointment to be fitted for a brace to immobilize the knee. I had another tear in the same knee years ago and grunted through it, only to find out on the MRI it has formed a cyst after it somewhat repaired itself. Have it checked out with an MRI and get a brace so it repairs itself right. I chose not to have it surgically repaired( All that is done is cut out torn area ) and I'm gonna get through a couple more years of the bone on bone before having it replaced.

I hope you have better luck with the brace then I did. It bothered me quite a bit & I unconsciously started favoring it which threw everything else out of whack. Both hips started aching, my left knee, my back, & all other joints from the waist down. It got to the point where I was having a hard time walking very far. And it did go out several times & instead of saying "'scuse me while I kiss the sky" it was "'scuse me while I kiss the ground."

Good luck.
