Unicoi 2023
Who is planning on heading to Unicoi this year? I'm busy getting ready and am really looking forward to this years show. If you haven't been you are missing out of a room full of some great custom calls and call makers (and some of us mediocre call makers as well) :) Stop by and see me and play a fe...

I have the Mossberg SA 20 Turkey Thug edition. Hard to beat the price and performance of that gun.

Re: The nwtf good old days
I have joined in the past to get into the convention through the fast line. I'll do it again if I decide to go back to Nashville but that is the only reason I would join.
Anyone here an actual TFT member and how do I join TFT?

Re: Package arrived on UPS...
So indian creek will cut custom chokes for customers? I need one in tru-choke for a 16 gauge? Yes he did. And didn't charge an arm and a leg either! Took a few months but I expected that. I sent him my barrel and a choke that fit it and he did his magic and it came back with a genuine Indian Creek ...

Re: Package arrived on UPS...
I'm excited to see how it does with the choke that Stuart at Indian Creek made for me!
Didn't do well at all with the Colonial choke that Mike Orlean threaded it for and there are not many off-the-shelf options for that thread.

I had a great show this year and Friday was better than expected...the crowd was down on Saturday and the show ended a few hours early due to the weather threat.

Re: Tru choke 28 ga threads??
Mike said he would thread mine to truchoke but actually threaded it to colonial so even though they look identical to me the truchoke will not fit. Had to buy a colonial. An still not happy with pattern and would I like to try different chokes and see if I could improve it but there aren't a lot of ...

Re: Maine loves subgauges
Glad they legalized sub-gauges, but that is the most poorly thought out/written regulation I have ever read. So you are only allowed to use 20 gauge and larger using single-size pellets no smaller than SIXES, and nothing smaller than 7s even in a blend. But you can use “gauges 10 through 28, includ...

Re: Rib Mount Reflex sight mounts
I personally like the reflex mounted as close to the eye as possible, the O/U doesn't allow that so the rib mount is about the only option a person has. I really like the SpeedBead mount simply for the fact if your battery would happen to crap itself you can sight right down the rib and use your be...

Do you, by chance, use decoys? Or heaven forbid, a blind. Thankfully most do...lol (BTW I sell duck blinds) www.flywayspecialties.com :) As far as reaping goes, I can't imagine anyone who thinks it is a safe practice on public land...especially on a day when you have already had several negative in...

Can't get over the show where the Maine GW explained to the hunter who lost his deer how an arrow keeps accelerating after leaving the bow, and since the deer was so close it didn't get good enough penetration.
Maybe the tiny jet engine in the arrow didn't ignite properly...who knows

I don't open links in emails. If you send me a link to something you BETTER include a personal note explaining what it is or it will be deleted asap...and I still may not open it even with the note included.
Simple rule of thumb is: If it makes you go HUH? delete it.

Re: Caldwell Lead Sled concerns?
I split a pool noodle in half and put that behind the butt to simulate the "give" that my shoulder would have, and put a 25lb bag of shot on the sled. Poi and poa stay the same as shoulder shots...no scope damage in the many years I've been doing this.

Re: Thin wall Tru-Choke and TSS?
Thanks all. I've got both the 1-1/8 and the 1-5/16 recipes from Hal. Gonna load 9 or 9.5 in them and try both to see if the choke handles them and which patterns best for me. Neither patterned as well as I wanted with the factory mod choke. William, I was gonna ask you about this at Unicoi but you d...

Thin wall Tru-Choke and TSS?
I have an old wingmaster 28 that I would like to turn into my go-to turkey killer. It had a fixed modified barrel and didn't pattern TSS 9 as good as I would like so after making several calls to different gunsmiths, I had Mike Orlean thread it for Tru-Choke. I ordered an extended extra full from Tr...
