Re: Compact guns
Hey thanks for the thought out reply’s! I’m a little smaller dude sorta. 5’10 225lbs, lil belly ha I do worry about recoil on the short lop stock. I mainly like the shorter barrel so idk if I’m gonna pull the trigger on it. Might just try to find a gun with a shorter barrel Since I don't like the s...

Re: Compact guns
I suppose it depends on how far off they are from your actual LOP. They feel like I'm shooting a Red Ryder. I've no issues with other's preferences here, just curious.

Re: Compact guns
Do all of you guys use the short stocks? I like the short barrel but have traded out for standard length stocks. I think followup shots would be more challenging for me with the short LOP. I don't need those too often (probably shouldn't say that), but when I do, I want it to be fluid without much e...

If you already have a jelly head 570 you are probably good unless you want a hotter center. Its what I have in the one that I use.

Re: Compact guns
They used to call them youth guns but now it's more fashionable to call them "compact" so grown men feel better about choosing them, one given to me and one that I'd bought the kids. :) I shoot one part of the time. The short barrel is great but I replaced the stock with a standard length ...

Re: Shogun
I watched the second on Friday night with Boyd and Isaac and we all agreed that it was better than the first and made the show better. They aren't wild about the subtitles but like the story so far.

Seeley Swan
I had to drive to Kalispell up the Seeley - Swan a week or so ago after a snowfall. It's a really nice drive if you like trees and snow. A couple nice mountain ranges to see also but it was too cloudy to see them well. It's not much for turkeys but you really have to watch out for whitetails. I saw ...

I finally watched the first episode tonight. Seems like a pretty good show so far. I'd have been okay with one weirdo scene being left out.

Re: Welcomed another one into my home today. Remington 1100 20ga youth NWTF 25th Anniversary gun.
I ran across a used 1100 20 gauge lightweight yesterday. It was blued and shiny so not really a turkey gun. I'm not sure how old. I was surprised how heavy it was for a "lightweight" and the stock was a straight stock that I don't recall ever seeing on an 1100. I was also shocked at the pr...

Re: Aging gobblers via roost bone
The best way to age a gobbler is by using the following mathematical model--- length of snood x circumference of skull at the eyes x combined length of spurs squared x the weight - beard length divided by the miles driven to the hunt location x hours of sleep the previous night + number pf beers co...

Re: So many jakes
I have seen large groups of jakes chase a gobbler on more than one occasion. I watched 5 or 6 chase a gobbler in circles last year. The gobbler was trying to stay close to a lone hen but was doing circles trying to avoid the jakes on him. The hen ignored them all and they all ignored me. I would gue...

You couldn't pay me enough to cut down a sweet 16, but you didn't ask that. I would definitely find a second barrel and keep the original.

Re: Who’s going to Fla early?
I'd like to be heading that way but would probably skip the opener. Openers are filled with too many yahoos but maybe every day in Florida is.
Regardless, I won't be there but really hope I make it back sometime.

I've never heard of him but never heard of an Adam's winner either. Probably someone around that knows his contact info but haven't seen the thread. Maybe change the thread title to his name.

Re: Hoobilly in SoDak!
Watching the video, I thought that you boys were hunting/flushing grouse! Anybody thinking about moving to the "high west" needs to experience both a summer and winter in the area cause both fall and spring are both short and deceptive relative to what is coming weather wise. We need a co...

Re: Hoobilly in SoDak!
I could live out there Beautiful country Back in 2011 when I was trying to get to somewhere less expensive than the ski resort area of CO but stay in the West, I applied for a job that would have put us in the Black Hills. It clearly didn't work out but I wouldn't have complained about landing ther...
