Re: The Reverend
Reverend Farmer seemed like one of a kind and will most certainly be missed by many! The videos of him on Youtube are well worth watching. Rest well, sir.

Re: Blackhorn 209 load suggestions
Update - I finally got a chance to shoot today. I started by getting on paper @ 50ish yds with 2 shots of 70 gr, followed by 3 shots for group with same load @ 95ish yds. I wasn't satisfied with the group so swabbed the barrel and shot 4 more (1 to foul and 3 for group) @ 95ish yds with 72 grs. The ...

Re: Gunsmith to drill and tap WBY Element?
I have 3 870's drilled and tapped and I'm more than happy with em. I also acquired a Meadow Creek mount back in September and can honestly say it's a fine option as well. I own a 12 ga Wby Element and if I wanted a red dot on it I would go with the Meadow Creek. It's your gun, money, and prerogative...

Re: Blackhorn 209 load suggestions
I shoot 70 grains by weight/100 grains by volume w/ a 300 grain Hornady XTP bullet. I experimented extensively w/ both the 240 and 300 grain XTP bullets and evaluated both in 5 grain +/- increments and settled on the previously mentioned loading based upon accuracy, recoil, and cost. I've killed wh...

Blackhorn 209 load suggestions
Posted this on another forum but always welcome more suggestions from folks with experience. Recently ran across a good deal on BH209 and want to start working on a load for my Encore muzzleloader. I'll be using Fed 209A primers with Barnes T-EZ 290 gr bullets. I'll be weighing each powder charge ra...

Re: Well the 300WSM has broke the ice
Congrats Brice! That's a fine buck! Did you ever do anything to the trigger? Soon as deer season is over I’m sending my trigger to a friend. He’s also a friend with Shooter aka Tommy Duliba He is gonna put a new trigger in it for me. He’s done a bunch of these Once done I’ll be letting everyone kno...

Re: 400 Legend
I'd likely be interested in a 360 Buckhammer or 400 Legend if CVA would make them in a single shot (MS requirement for primitive weapons season).

Agree! I have 2 A-bolt's in .280. When I rifle hunt, it's usually with one or the other.Eagle-Dawgs wrote: ↑October 24th, 2023, 5:56 am They did not make many in the 280 nor the 270 weatherby mag, the 280 is a stud of a gun

Re: 350 Legend
It will serve you well! I have an AR and a CVA Cascade in 350 legend. My son killed killed 5 or 6 deer with them before moving up to 30-06, and my 9 yr old daughter (tiny for her age) shot a buck with the AR last year. The recoil is comparable to a .223 and performance has been fine for us up to 150...

Re: Browning BAR
That's a fine rig! I do love a BAR! Eventually I would like to get a matching 270WSM Nice! My son and I saw a BLR in .300 WSM at a local pawn shop recently. Had it been in .308, it would've likely had a new home that day. I'm jealous of Eagle-dawgs and that .280...I'd love to have one in .280 to go...

Re: Weatherby Element 20ga pattern
Update: Went to swap out a factory choke for a Carlson's Mod and noticed the factory choke was difficult to get out after unscrewing. Threads are fine, not cross-threaded but seems like the tolerance at the end of the barrel is too tight. The same was true for the Carlson's, maybe even tighter than ...

Re: Weatherby Element 20ga pattern
The 12/26 came in today. It feels really good and the action reminds me a lot of the Benelli SBE2 I used to have. I hope to give it a full test in a dove field before long. FYI, if anyone is looking for a 20/22, Smokey Mountain Guns and Ammo (smga.com) currently has em for 498 with free shipping/no ...
