Got in 3 coyote calling stands after helping the rancher!
The first stand I made after helping the rancher and his family brand calves was a blank stand. I didn't see a thing until I walked back over the hill top to where I had my truck hidden. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s28/derbyacresbob/2017-01-28%2014.32.17.jpg About 26 Tule Elk showed up out pa...

4 coyotes on 1 crazy shotgun stand!
Today at about noon I decided I was going to go out to shoot some new loads at paper out of my 22-250 and do a few calling stands. Right after I shot six 22-250 rounds at paper the fog rolled in. I was able to get in two rifle stands before the fog got to thick to use my rifle. So I decided to go ou...

A great day of coyote calling!
Yesterday .22guy and I went coyote calling and started before sun up and our last stand was just after sun down. The first stand of the morning I started out with Female Sore Howls sound on full volume and a bunch of coyotes started yipping and howling about a half mile away. I switched to Bay Bee C...

Re: My day ended better than it started!
Great job on all of the coyotes. If you don't mind me asking what kind of calling sequence are you using and duration for each call? I have been dabbling in predator hunting for a year or so but I am trying to buckle down and get serious. I don't use set or automatic sequences because I don't want ...

My day ended better than it started!
I made around 10 coyote calling stands today without seeing a coyote. Maybe the huge moon we had last night had something to do with the slow start I had today. A little after 2:00 pm I made a shotgun stand at the top of a steep canyon. I leaned up against the trunk of a big oak tree in the shade wi...

Re: Had another good day of coyote calling.
When you guys hunt turkeys take along a predator hand call. When you are done calling turkeys at a stand instead of getting up and giving up, try to call in a coyote for 5 to 10 minutes before you leave. You are already set up and in position, give it a try. Take some lead number 4 buckshot and swit...

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s28/derbyacresbob/2016-12-07%2007.35.15.jpg I got this coyote on my second stand this morning. It stopped about 80 yards from my Fury. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s28/derbyacresbob/2016-12-07%2010.29.07-1.jpg This coyote came charging in about 3 minutes aft...

Got a shotgun double on coyotes!
Saturday I went out coyote calling but it started out pretty slow. No coyotes seen or heard on the first 5 stands. I did spot a coyote about 80 yards away when I was stopping my truck to open a gate. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s28/derbyacresbob/2016-12-03%2012.18.20.jpg It wasn't a very smar...

A slow day, but it was still fun!
I called from before sunrise until a little after sundown on Friday. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s28/derbyacresbob/2016-11-04%2009.23.09.jpg I got the above coyote on my fourth stand of the day. It came in from my left and it stopped when I muted the the sound on my Foxpro. It was about an 90...

The first calling stand was a good one!
Two weeks ago I got a call from a rancher, he wanted me to come out and call some coyotes. He was pretty sure that coyotes got two of his calves in the last few weeks. I don't normally call coyotes much in July so I wasn't real excited about going. But since this rancher and his family have been ver...

My son Wes and I had a great day!
Yesterday my son and I went out calling coyotes and we got started at first light. We made quite a few stands before noon and hadn't seen a thing and only heard some coyotes on one stand and they were a few miles away. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s28/derbyacresbob/2016-02-13%2012.17.01-2.jpg ...

Re: Did some coyote calling and branded some calves.
Good job Bob. I love the terrain you get to hunt in. One ? The terrain don't look like it provides the yotes with much cover so do they just stay in underground dens and come out when they hear you calling. Here they have dens but we also have a lot of cover to for them to stay in. Only about 1 mil...

Did some coyote calling and branded some calves.
This morning I was going out to help a rancher and his family brand right at 80 calves. They wanted me there at 9:00 am so I asked if I could do some calling before the branding started and the rancher said no problem. I got out there early enough that I could take my time and still wait for about 1...

Re: Yote down
Congratulations on getting a new property to hunt!
The last three coyote calling seasons have been pretty slow here in California because of the drought. Hopefully we will get enough rain and the coyotes will have great big litters in the spring of 2016.

Re: Got 1 coyote and a short Gray Fox Video!
Cool pics and video. Cattle calving this time of year is just weird, but you're a lot warmer there than we are here, hope the little guy makes it. toasty, I just got a call from the rancher and he said the calf was standing on it's own this morning when he gave it another bottle of milk. Around her...

Got 1 coyote and a short Gray Fox Video!
On my first stand yesterday morning at 10:30 am I had my shotgun, my 243 Win and my camera with me. I had the camera in my hands, the shotgun in my lap and my 243 Win sitting next to me on my right. I was sitting in the shade of a juniper. I tried 3 or 4 sounds and had been calling for about 20 minu...

We had a great coyote calling day!
My coyote hunting buddy jp7mag and I started calling about two weeks ago in the morning just after it got light enough to see. I was sitting up next to a juniper with my shotgun and jp7mag was off to my right side with his 243 Win. At around 15 minutes of calling jp7mag shot a coyote that I had not ...

Two more coyotes from around the cattle!
Yesterday I went back to the ranch where the cows are dropping calves right now. I didn't see a coyote on the first 6 stands. On stand 7 everything was perfect, a canyon with lots of ridges dropping down into it from both sides. The wind was coming up the canyon to me and the sun was at my back. Thi...

A good way to start the 2015/2016 predator calling season!
I went to a bull sale at a ranch last Friday and one of the ranchers there told me he wanted me to come try to get some coyotes on his property because his cows are calving. So I told him I could come out on Tuesday and he said that would be great. I showed up at his house Tuesday morning at 7:00 am...

TSS #4 shot is pretty impressive!
Yesterday I shot the 4th coyote that I have killed using a 12 ga 3" Fiocchi hull 1-1/2 oz reload. On one of the first 3 coyotes I used the TSS #4 shot on was 48 big steps away. Yesterday's coyote was coming in to my Foxpro e-caller from the down wind side so I knew he was going to smell my call...

Used some TSS #4 shot on coyotes today!
On my second stand this morning I had a male coyote come in while I was playing Prairie Dog Distress. He just trotted in nice and steady and started to circle to my left. I shot him at 48 big steps with a 3" 12 ga 1-1/2 oz reload of #4 Tungsten Super Shot. The coyote went straight down and didn...

Bobcat pictures and video from Sunday 1/4/15!
I left the house at about 8:30 am on Sunday morning to make some stands in some higher country than I have been calling lately. On the way up to where I wanted to start calling two coyotes crossed the ranch road I was on about 400 yards in front of me. They were not in a hurry. When I got even with ...
