Re: Cleaning a New Gun?
If your gun is a Remington, I would dismantle everything, except the trigger mechanism, and thoroughly clean out that waxy spooge that they glop on and in everything to prevent corrosion. I started having problems with my 870 not ejecting spent shells correctly and when I finally sat down and took t...

Re: What ya think Guys? Good Idea? Bad Idea? Opinions
I remember seeing a shirt or a turkey vest that had a sling/pocket sewn on at the shoulder that the butt of the gun could rest in and do the same thing. You could still shoulder the gun as usual if you needed to shoot quickly.

Re: Any Opinions? Just Curious...Not being a Smart *
I believe that they are testing the marketing waters with this shell in 12 gauge and will offer a 20 gauge version in the near future. I do not believe that this represents a huge technological leap forward in ammunition, it's just not that innovative. Instead of granulated buffer, they just use a l...

Great advice.Johndoe wrote:Lost my dad when I was 33. Heart issue also.
Make sure you tell all loved ones how you feel every time you get the chance.
Never know when that chance will pass and will help you deal with loss.

Re: Non Common Callers
On any given morning, I may be carrying a trumpet, a wingbone, a cow horn/wingbone or a pushpin. A few years ago, I had 2 of my 3 bird limit fairly early in the season. I took every turkey call out of my vest and hunted the last few weeks using only my natural voice. I quickly found out that the vol...

I have also used a pair of needle-noses. Spread them out real wide, drop the pointed ends in the slots and turn slowly, holding them in the slots firmly. The nut will back right out.

Re: Drill and Tap scope base for Rem. Youth model 20 ga.
I drilled and tapped my 20 gauge 870 for the Weaver 429 base. After researching information about whether the 429 base would fit the 20 and not finding anything, I contacted Remington and asked if the 20 and 12 gauge 870s both had the same radius across the top of the receivers. They emailed me back...

Re: red dot recommendations
I've been using a Mueller on my 870 20 gauge for 2 years now and it has worked flawlessly. I have it mounted on a Picatinney rail attached directly to the receiver. There are several great red dot products available out there that all work well.

Check out the folks over at Hammock Forums (https://www.hammockforums.net/?) for great ideas on this whole subject. If you, or someone you know, can sew or are fairly crafty, you can make your own custom hammock for a fraction of the cost of buying one. I have one right now that is double layered (f...
