AL Fall Turkey Hunting
I'm perusing the reg.s. It seems all the public land is open to deer hunters at the same time as turkey hunters. Anyone know of a private operation for fall hunts?

Yep, easy to take care of. Just don't be a bonehead like me and keep it in the storage of your dog box for a month between before you break it down and lube everything.

I like that black chrome, myself. A heavy dose of paste wax on the receiver and choke tube to cut the shine and it's good to go. Not really all weather, though. The internals on my Yildiz O/U won't stand rain or humidity at all.

Old school call
Cane Cutter Game Calls cherry surface in cane body, cane in cane striker The sound got out depends very much on how it is held and played. It will tone down to almost nothing. He's on facebook. http://alturl.com/cmd33 http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/nonnydarnell/1428003178_zpse5210452.jpg

That's a cutie pie! I about had to wipe a tear the first time my boy picked one up. Now every time I get a call out the first thing I do is hand him his Turpin so he keeps his hands off mine.

Get a copy of Kenny Morgan's book and a set of Lovett Williams' CDs. You have a steep learning curve starting out. Those references will cut it in half.

Easiest way is to get the email address off there that goes to your bucket. Then you can just email the pics.

Re: Ocala NF Pipeline Unit
The gobblers are strutting for hens while the eat corn in backyards. Look on google earth, find the houses and cut 'em off coming in from the roost. Unless they're roosting in the yard. That's FL hunting for ya.

I'm about to order some maps for trip planning. Looking at fall hunting in AL and Spring in NM and OK. Got firm ideas on AL and NM. Anyone know if there's national forest in western OK I need to order maps for while I'm at it? Saw something about Black Kettle Grassland. Is that the same as the famou...

Re: Hows the gobbling?
The one I killed this afternoon was still henned up at two o'clock. Two gobblers and a few hens. He did gobble on his own, though. As I was headed home, I spotted two more on a power line strutting. I slammed the brakes and hit reverse. Posted signs everywhere! Really burst my bubble. I mighta alrea...
