Manufacturers have several different lengths on threading into the barrel. The gap insures the inside is probley threaded. Even tho Franchi is owned by Benelli the Benelli has a smaller gap

I need to get mine cut down asap and do the same style pad for it.
Then I can get the barrel polished and a vent rib meadowcreekmounts on it plus a FastFire or something and start patterning. I think the gun is worth more than we are paying for it. Looks nicer than the Tristars quality wise

Not exactly what you are asking, but KPY Ballistics will calculate drop for any size shot of different materials at various distances and velocities for various environmental conditions.
