Re: Youth hunt success
Congratulations are always in order for every young hunter who shoots their first wild turkey! Way to go, son. I was with a guy a few years ago who shot a jake wearing that exact same beard. I still have it at my house. I showed it to 2 turkey biologists with the MDWFP and they told me they had neve...

Re: Teaching
Get your hands on Lovett William's Real Turkeys III, IV, V & VI CDs and play them constantly in your vehicle. Engrave these recordings of live turkeys into your brain to where you can duplicate the sounds faithfully and you will be well on your way to becoming a successful turkey hunter.

Hey Tim,
I think that after you hang out here for a while, you are going to find that these fellows (and lovely ladies) love to hunt turkeys almost as much as you do.
Welcome.

I would not be surprised if that turned out to be a Merriams/Rio hybrid, possibly from north-central Nebraska.

Re: First Turkey Pic
I hunted for 3 years before I finally was able to let the air out of one in the Spring season of 1976. Let me tell you, with the squeeze of that trigger I was hooked! There have been quite a few gobblers since then, but I still remember that morning like it was this morning. http://i657.photobucket....

Re: Winchester Long Beaard Shells
Clark,
I have not shot any of those shells so I cannot speak to my experience with them. I do ask that if you have the ear of Winchester, please have them consider putting out a 3" 20 gauge 6 shot shell before this next turkey season. That'd be great.

I know that you are one tough cookie, Tommy and it will not break that spirit of yours. Get well soon. I will say this about those photos of your truck, it looks like it crumpled perfectly and probably saved your life. The energy of the impact appears to have been dispersed and redirected through th...

Great work from your Brittany there. Have you ever noticed what type of shotgun is used in most television programs and movies? Ithaca Model 37. Beautiful, iconic gun.

Re: Jackson, MS robbery suspect loses 'bet' that victim does
This reminds me of an incident a few years ago here in Jackson when 2 swarthy young misguided victims of a failed system approached a man in the parking lot of a hotel with the suggestion of off-assing his wallet. The man made a counter offer. The 2 yutes then produced a firearm to add emphasis to t...

Re: 20 ga recoil
There are many variable factors that can alter the effect of perceived recoil (gauge, gun weight, action, choke constriction, back-boring, shape and material of the butt stock, etc.), the short answer is that the smaller gauge guns, with their subsequently smaller shot payloads and powder charges, g...

Re: Homemade BBQ sauce (My own recipe) Updated!
This looks like a terrific sauce that I will whip up the next time I smoke some ribs. A trick that I learned a few years back is to smoke a pan of the sauce along with the meat. It takes on the wood flavoring and gently reduces it while it simmers.
