Re: Montana 2021
As the western YouTubers start pimping turkey hunting more and more, interference is going to continue to increase out west. Ive noticed several popular channels have now jumped on the turkey bandwagon to get those views and likes.. Sucks watching what is happening to our sport.

You just about 5 years too late to central TN. Social media has caused it to get 2-3x the hunting pressure it got just less than a decade ago!

Re: Transport Laws
Also, when transporting meat, beard, legs.... I always make three one-gallon freezer ziplocs for each bird and label with my name, date of harvest, state, and any type of confirmation number after registering a kill. This is required in several states so I just do it for all states I hunt. One bag h...

Re: advantages of a trumpet
I just watched/listened to Dave's trumpet video. Those two fellas are a cut above what I've heard before especially the guy in the mossy oak. That's some crazy good quiet and mid range stuff. I didn't listen to all of it, but wonder if they can hit higher volume for more open country?? I doubt that...

Re: Plenty More Spring Turkey Hunters Afield.
Yup, social media and YouTube are having a huge impact as well. This spring will be as busy, if not busier, than last spring. If things don't settle down in a few years, look for reduced opportunities for turkey hunting in some states through means of quota only hunts, season restrictions, possibly ...

Re: #7 TSS and the .7 rule
#8s in my gun hold a higher % in the 10" than #8.5s and #9s at 40 and 50 yards. At 50 yards I actually get about the same number of #8s in the 10" that I do #8.5s with 115 less pellets in the load.

Re: Fruit/nut trees for turkey?
Autumn olive. Have to keep them under control but they produce a berry that deer and turkey eat. Also nine bark if my memory is correct. Both can be used for hedge rows Please do not plant Autumn olive. They are a non-native invasive species that can take over a site. Much better options out there.

Re: What's your heaviest & lightest gobbler?
I've weighed almost every gobbler I've killed and keep track of the stats in a spreadsheet. Heaviest is 24.25lbs taken in south-central Iowa. Lightest = 14.5lbs . I've taken two this light. A 1 1/8" spurred eastern taken last week of April in Mississippi and a 14.5lb 2yo Osceola taken opening w...

Super tough hunting early in the season... Birds aren't very fired up and weekend pressure is intense.. Got beat to the first two gates I went to before 4:00AM on the Sunday of opening weekend last year. Had heard/found birds at the spots the previous day. If i head back there, reckon I'll just slee...

Re: Shooting hen turkeys
Although I may not agree with Sam's decision to shoot the hen, the episode was more entertaining than watching a grown man sit in a pop up blind and stare at decoys. They have put out two springs worth of some of the best turkey hunting content out there. I'm not going to trash them over one episode...
