Re: The nwtf good old days
IMO - I participated heavily on the old NWTF message board and feel they ultimately dropped it when it got too political and argumentative. IF I remember it wasn't long after a months long forum battle over the "Dixie Chicks" and President Bush 2 and it was gone. I'm seeing the same thing ...

Re: Gun case for traveling
That SKB is a good deal. The empty weight may be a factor on airlines with the 40# limit since it is 17# 10oz empty. 8 kilograms - jeez - what's Amazon think we're all Canadians? LOL.

Re: Gun case for traveling
No topic seems to give more conflicting and bad information as flying with firearms. I currently use a Plano 36" tactical case ($99 on Amazon this morning) that easily handles an 870 with the barrel separated. Still room for calls, range finder and other items. My case will also contain ten rou...

Osceola Poults
Picture won't be exceptional but should show four hens with over a dozen poults. Birds are in front of the white posts. This from this mornings scouting in a nearby Florida WMA. Surprised to see this many small poults this late. This area at least 60 miles s/o the north/south turkey zone dividing li...

Re: What do you guys think this is?
Never saw this monkey like critter again. This may be why. Someone else was looking for him. Be it monkey or house cat he would have solved the problem.

Re: What do you guys think this is?
I posted a pic within the last year, have to find it, that was similar. Consensus on the Florida forums was a monkey. This was in south Florida so it was possible. Camera never got it again. Ask the local animal shelters if anyone has inquired about a lost pet exotic animal. I'm going with house cat...

Finally Made it west
After three years of excuses and procrastination finally headed west. Flew out of Tampa to Denver. Rented an SUV. Headed north into Wyoming. Spent most of last week chasing the Merriams and sightseeing. As an Eastern and Osceola hunter took a while to comprehend how vast and wide open these areas ar...

Re: Sad day in WV young man killed
Old Ohio neighbor was a native WV. He said whenever he returned home his old buddies would kid him about using a shotgun for turkeys. TheIr comment was "you just like to watch them flop". I cringe every time I watch a TV guy crawling around waving a fan in front of his face. A guy hunting ...

Re: Kentucky
Lucky to have some Florida private to hunt but also hunt public if drawn for a quota hunt. Long ago noticed that the private birds gobble their butt's off and the public birds are almost totally mute. When someone post about how a Florida Osceola on public ground came in silent I think "so what...

Re: Kentucky
Reviewing some older post. Really liked the way you "accompanied" the two from NY. I have lived in KY and hunted the DB. One thing we noticed is that there seemed to be some birds everywhere but not a whole lot of birds anywhere. I doubt if I could take those "hills" in eastern K...

Re: Osceola Questions
Most of your questions come down to how much you are willing to spend on leases and guides. From one that has lived in three states and hunted several more I can say unequivocally that Florida is the hardest place for a public land hunter.
