Re: Cold Week
We spent our share of time in the truck but the time out was bad, especially if we couldn't get out of the wind. The coldest we saw while hunting was -27 but that was from the truck. The worst was when we hiked out in single digits with 20 to 30 mph winds. That's not stuff I'd normally do but we ha...

I worked with this buddy in the mountains of Colorado so he's been in cold temps but he's been living in a much warmer climate and his outdoor adventures are mostly fishing in Mexico.tailfeathers wrote: ↑January 19th, 2024, 8:21 pm Kind of hard for a southern boy to imagine those temps. Wow!

Cold Week
A buddy and his son flew in in last Saturday to the coldest day we've had this winter, -39, for a late season cow elk hunt. We hunted Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Monday was brutal cold, Tuesday was cold with brutal wind, then Wednesday morning was cold, snowing and windy. We found a couple big h...

We got dumped on yesterday. 12-14” of snow. Our power has been out for 17 hrs. and they estimate that it will be restored at 11 tonight. 22° right now headed to -10 tonight. It’s 56° in the house and heading south. I really hate this crap. Hopefully you get up and running soon. Any gas heat, Buddy ...

IMG_20240112_065744212.jpg I don't think it's getting above this today then -30 tonight. I can see spending January - March in Arizona or Florida when I retire. Arizona has Mule Deer and Coues rutting in January and desert quail into February. Florida turkey hunting in March then migrate back to Mo...

We got 4” of WET HEAVY snow on Wednesday. 3” of lighter snow today. 6-10” more expected on Friday-Saturday. Then the cold sets in. For all of next week. -10° for the mornings most of next week with highs in the low single digits. I’m in Wisconsin. I think we'll be back into the 20s by Tuesday. I've...

Re: Spring around the corner.......
I've already seen my first blooming wild flower of the year, a dandelion on New Year's Day. We had 4.8 inches of rain on Tuesday which is setting things up for a great spring. What would 4.8 inches of rain produce in snow in your area? NOAA says 1" rain is equivalent to 13" of snow on ave...

Re: Mossberg overunder turkey is now a thing
Looks cool but an over and under just doesn't strike me as a turkey gun. My opinion, and maybe not a popular one, Mossberg is stretching their price point out past their value. Maybe if I was more familiar with what other manufacturers are setting their prices at I would reconsider. I used to consid...

Euros Complete
Finally got around to finishing up the 2023 mule deer for Boyd and my buddy Jeff. Also whitened Isaac's from 2022 a little. Had the peroxide cream on Boyd's one full day and the other two a couple of days. Peroxide cream brushed on and wrapped in plastic. IMG_20240104_113045085.jpg Afterwards: IMG_2...
