Perfect......this is why I asked. I seen Tim Grounds and Buck Gardner both seem to be pretty popular. Thanks for the reply.

Locator call- goose

Guys, Need some recommendations here. I have noticed in my neck of the woods hunting easterns that an owl call works sometimes and a crow call works a little better than an owl call most of the time getting a bird to gobble. But, a goose flying over honking works almost every time to jerk a gobble o...

Re: Chufa- Is it worth it?

Sounds like it definitely is a preferred food source. I have never planted this before, so my main question are is much should I plant? I basically hunt a 100 acre farm mainly for turkeys where I am looking at planting this. Would one acre be enough? Also, is there any tricks to helping the turkeys ...

Re: Chufa- Is it worth it?

Imagine that........doesn't surprise me at all. Guess they probably classify it as baiting, even though the majority of the feeding is done before spring season.

Ask the guys on old gobbler. Lol. Heck with that.....LOL! I hate that site. After all of the banning and stupid mess that went on about TSS, I stopped visiting there. And lord and behold, would you know Federal started loading it. I hope those guys have the dirtiest sock in there mouth and choke on...

Re: Chufa- Is it worth it?

Man, that doesnt sound good. That is the main thing that worries me is rainfall. Here we typically do pretty good until June and July. Starts getting dry a lot of time in those months. Just hate to drop 100 for seed and another 100 flor so for fertilizer and lime and it doesnt do squat. Guess it's a...

Chufa- Is it worth it?

I am looking to see if anyone has any feedback on chufa planting for turkeys. Seems to be a dynamite crop for fall, winter, and early spring months once the plant reaches maturity. I typically plant 2.5 to 3 acres a year for deer. Usually run a blend of wheat and oats, with some clover mixed in. Def...

Re: Thin wall Tru-Choke and TSS?

Agree 100 percent with shooting 3 shots or so and seeing how the choke screws out. Like Tommy said, if it is tightening up, leave it alone and do not shoot anymore. However, I bet you wont have any issues as long as you stay with the small shot sizes that flow well through the chokes. 9s, 9.5s, etc....

That is a super nice pattern!

Those Remington fixed full 870 .410s are awesome with 9s or 9.5s. I wouldn't touch a thing. You can kill to 40 no problem.

Re: tss 10 shot effective range?

Does it sound like a load worth hunting to you guys? In a 20 gauge, I would take straight 9s any day over a 8x10 blend. It will kill further than we should be shooting. The 72 yard max above is correct for 9s. I dont think anyone needs more than that. The only gauge I see 10s being really effective...

Depends on velocity honestly, but if I recall, 50 yards is a safe bet at 1100 fps.

Re: Remington 870 16ga advice

Thanks for the input guys! 2shooter, that comp-n-choke .615 pattern is unreal. The thing I like honestly like about that pattern is the 20 inch is not terribly sparse, but you better be on them with the aiming point though. Was yours a 23 inch barrel also? Just curious. It will probably be February ...

Remington 870 16ga advice

Guys, Been on the prowl for a Remington 870 16 gauge express shotgun for a few years now, and I finally lucked out this past week. Got a very nice used Remington 870 express 16 gauge shotgun with a 23 inch pipe and threaded for Remchokes. I wanted the threaded choke barrel so that I could change cho...

Re: apex choke by indian creek?

They are like the old Indian Creek Pro Platinum Elite chokes. No porting, no wad catchers, coated with a brown Gunkote of some sort. Special constrictions available. Indian Creek BDS will shoot tighter patterns. That is directly from Stuart when I asked about them last year.
