It might be hard to put down once you start carrying it. Details on mount? Anyone push the envelope on 10s on a gobbler yet?

2 1/4 ounces at 1200fps is elephant gun territory. Pretty sure you can just body shoot at ten yards with that.

Re: Decline in bird population
I have read in a few places that the supposed strategy for setting seasons was to start after the peak of breeding. Have they ever actually done that anywhere?

Re: Point of aim
The money lost trading in a high dollar gun would probably buy a Mossberg 835. One of those with the old original lead only turkey choke and Win 3 1/2" black shell 2oz lead sixes is point and shoot to 50. If your head is on the stock the bird dies. Those chokes are usually like $10 on ebay, etc...

Re: Decline in bird population
Populations are cyclical. I think a lot of people have learned in the last few years that their areas are not the core areas that will always have birds. There are plenty of deer leases that only ever had birds because populations were higher and turkeys expanded into those areas. We all say killing...

Re: Off-season feeding
Corn only holds them on your place as long as it is on the ground. If you have to have it gone to hunt, the gobblers will probably leave when the hens move to nesting areas. I don't know much about bait plots, but I do know that if you keep feeding them in the same spot year after year you increase ...

Re: high left patterns
Put your target a 13 yards. Look straight down the rib with the bead or beads looking like a single ball sitting on a table with your eye at the edge of the table. You should be able to see the bottom of the ball but not the top of the table other than as a line or plane. If the hole from the wad an...

Forcing cone buildup
I saw a thick ring of fouling about halfway down my barrel. It appears to be wad, cardboard and carbon that built up around the forcing cone and then came loose after several shots. Anyone got any comments on how that might affect the pattern on the shot that moved the fouling down the bore?

Re: Drilling and tapping a yildiz single
The old school way was to put the barrel in the fork of a tree and bend a hair at a time in the direction you want to move the pattern. The .410 pattern is tight enough to want the red dot.

Relative pattern diameter
So my boy learned a hard lesson about picking your head up at the shot. That .410 is pretty tight even at the thirty yards he took the shot. So, how much more forgiving are the 28 gauge TSS loads or the lighter 20 gauge loads?

That's gonna be slick. I also called ATI about the regulation, POI issue. They don't have a limit, either. I got the line about how POI is determined by gun fit, etc. That's kinda odd since they sell models made specifically for turkey hunting, but that is what they say.

Re: 410 Ga hevi shot #7
A 3/4oz lead #7 1/2 load will have ~120 more pellets. I killed a paper turkey with the Win load at 35 yards. I'd hunt it to 30.

http://www.longbeardcalls.com/calls.htm can build you a long box that sounds exactly like this hen http://vid23.photobucket.com/albums/b37 ... I_0141.mp4 Unfortunately that hen couldn't call a gobbler to save her life, because she sounds like a box call.

You ain't missin' nothin'. I had some good ones that I killed turkeys with, but I sold them all. One of the better moves I ever made. This is the only one I wish I'd kept: http://www.enticerturkeycalls.com/shop/ ... ratch-box/

Re: Buying a new O/U for dedicated turkey rig 20 or 28?
Heard back from Savage. They have no control limit on regulation. It would be up to their discretion whether to fix or not. Looks like either you get a good one or you get a red dot. One of the two I looked at in a store had a vent rib with a little curve to it. I told them I'd keep an eye out for w...
