Predator help...
I realize this topic isn't about turkey hunting but our season here in PA. is not open yet and I need help in identifying a predator. One of our large white peeking ducks, about 8-10 pounds, went missing just at dusk last night. I was out looking this morning and found the carcass partially eaten, l...

Daughter's First Merriams
I traveled with my daughter from Pennsylvania to South Dakota for my daughter's first Merriam's turkey hunt. Day 1 was great with many, many gobblers but no shot opportunities. Later that afternoon we placed a tent blind up and the next morning she had her first Merriam's gobbler. He weighed in at 1...

Hardest PA. season ever!
This season here in NEPA is the worst that I can ever remember. The extremely warm weather in late March, April has screwed up the season greatly. Opening morning and only hear 2 gobbles on the roost, that's it......this is in an area loaded with gobblers! Ive been fortunate to hunt just about every...

Pennsylvania Season
This past Saturday was opening day and for the first time in my life I can actually say it was horrible! Heard two different gobblers on the roost and that was it. No more gobbling activity at all on the ground. From Monday until now it has been pouring rain and fog so no hunting at all. Hopefully F...

Re: 835 Problem
Had my 835 for over 20 years and it happened last spring in Texas. Took it to a local gunsmith and he said the receiver, and barrel were all fouled with gritty dirt. After a complete cleaning it works fine. Even though I cleaned the barrel alot it was the tiny grit that was causing mine not to eject.

Re: Filming your hunts....
I use a Canon XHA1 camera and record to a CF card via a Datavideo DN-60 recorder. I use a Rode shotgun mic for better quality audio. This, in my opinion, is the 'cats ass" for turkey video. It has a 20x zoom lens and is all you will ever need. Numerous light adjustmants for all types of lightin...

Re: PA #2,old 2 toes
great gobbler.....here in NEPA birds aren't gobbling all that much either. A few times on the roost, hit the ground and shut-up! Season in my opinion is way too late as we saw gobblers breeding hens in our yard in March!!!! I went out this morning (Friday 15th.) after seeing a nice tom in my backyard...

Three out of four isn't bad.....
I started my hunting this spring in Florida harvesting a beautiful Osceola. The I was off to South Dakota for a beautifully white Merriams, then home to PA. where I harvested a nice gobbler on my property. Couldn't make it to Texas this year but I was there last spring for my Rio. All in all I now h...

Choke tube damage?
Is it possible to "shoot-out" a Kick's choke tube with Hevi-shot loads? I use to have a fantastic pattern at 40 yards using the old Federal copper plated buffered shot. Now my pattern isnt worth a damn. When I first started shooting the Hevi-shot shells the pattern was great, but now after...

Re: Help! Need Opinions!
First off, is the peer pressure so high near you that you had to shoot thru some brush 50-55 yards to try and kill this gobbler???? It isn't worth it...he may have gone off and died somewhere after "rolling him".....obviously he was hit by some pellets. You will just have to wait and see i...

South Dakota Merriam's
Just returned home from my South Dakota Merriams hunt. One word, FANTASTIC!!!! The birds were everywhere and gobbling strongly. Roosted this gobbler the night before. Right after fly-down and a few calls he was right there in front of me at 30 yards. The Ulti-Mag did the rest......19.8 Lbs., 2 beard...
