Re: 28 ga contender Apex patterns
I’ll have to check on the load. Everything is at th farm.
MGM is making the 410’s with base barrel starting at $395 . They have been promising the 28ga forever. I wanted to get a chance to see just what the tss would do.

Re: 28 ga contender Apex patterns
This is a 28ga CONTENDER. These are uber rare.
That is probably as good as it gets. I purposely moved the ring up a little because the pattern was most dense about 3 inches above the bullseye. A few clicks should help with that.

28 ga contender Apex patterns
The weather finally cooperated with my work schedule and I got to shoot the 28 ga contender. Apex 9.5’s at 40 yds was good for 139. I’m going to adjust the Burris fast fire down a click or two and I’ll be good to go. These are barrels from the t/c custom shop before they closed. Match Grade Machine ...

How about a 28ga contender (or two)
Here are a pretty rare pair of contender in 28 ga. Came from the t/c custom shop before they closed and both have a match grade machine vent rib and colonial choke tubes installed. Have a Burris fast fire iii on the one I’m keeping. https://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/onegoodshot/CD01F99B-A5CE-4...

Re: New 28------update with first bird
First with this lil 28ga. Nothing special, just factory winchester #6's. Almost an hour of gobbling and strutting just out of sight. Finally he committed and strutted straight to me and I shot him at 14 paces. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/onegoodshot/hunting%20pics/image.jpg1_zpsej9m2khn.j...

New 28------update with first bird
Well new to me turkey gun. When my ffl called and said it was in, I told him I would bring the can of krylon with me. He said it was too nice to paint. After looking at, for such an old gun, I tend to agree. Crappy pic, but it is a Stevens savage 94C. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/onegoodsh...

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/onegoodshot/hunting%20pics/image.jpg2_zps5rjgfipd.jpg My 2015 season. Hunted the first week and 2 days with my 14" contender 410. First morning out with my daughters 11-87 20ga and this bird marches in at 14 steps. Hunt probably took less than 20 minutes....

Thought I'd camo my daughters 20 ga a little. I need to find some kind of form fitting netting for the barrel. Id like to have it have a snake skin look. Any suggestions? http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/onegoodshot/image.jpg2_zpsx503x1fn.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/onegoodshot/...

Was showing a customer my sons turkey mount in the pharmacy yesterday. Conversation turned to what I was hunting with and 28 guages. He said he had a neat lil gun he's never shot but asked if I would like to give it a try. He was at the store when I opened this morning and left this lil 28ga muzzlel...

Got my sons gobbler back from taxidermist
He was 8 last year when he got his first bird. Opted for gobbling on the roost mount. He was really jacked. Also pictured is the full strut bird that was my daughters first bird (she was 9). Looking forward to taking them over to KY for the youth hunt this weekend. Put them in the office of the phar...

Heard first bird last Saturday. Rained a lot last week, but dried up Friday with lots of sunshine and they have been really sounding off the last 2 days.

Re: Replace my Eotech with something else?
I had the trueglo on my daughters 11-87 20ga. It worked great. It probably sits about the same as the eotech. I traded into a Burris ffiii just before season so I changed them out.

8yo gets his first 20.5lbs w/ 9" beard
I had to be out of town for business this weekend so we missed the WV youth day. We talked mom into letting him miss school today for the regular opener. I roosted several birds last night. Waited until well after dark to set up the blind and then carried it a couple hundred yards through the pastur...

Re: West Virginia Question
Earlier the better before they figure out it is hunting season. Be in the woods by 6:15. WV only allows morning hunting. Must wrap it it up by 1:00 pm.
