Re: Help identifying this tree

Man that's nice. You need one of those. You should also plant some wisteria in with it. And add a little kudzu for a nice ground cover. Gorgeous.   :angel4:

If money were no object, I'd have one made for me to my preference.

You could make a zero or even negative recoil .410. The question is whether you want to take it to the woods. How much do crossbows kick?

Going deaf from shooting

Turkeys are the only thing I shoot at without some kind of hearing protection. Also, they didn't talk about it, but one of the ways you lose hearing from shooting is vibration from the gun stock. That's why the loss in my left ear is greater than the right, even though my right ear is pointed more t...

Prism scopes aren't red dots. They're just a different way of making an illuminated scope. Not that it matters if it works for what you want.

Different than baby wipes somehow? I never knew how amazing baby wipes are until we had kids. The youngest is seven and we still have a case come to the house once per month for general purposes. I keep the biodegradable baby wipes in the truck all the time. Lysol wipes, too, but that's another stor...

Re: I’m all for free speech..

I have no idea who that is. Last CD I bought was Earls of Leicester. No, it was Doc & Merle. Anyhow, I find that if I like the entertainment product of an individual its is best to not find anything out about them. Entertainment folks tend be real pieces of work. Can't even listen to Willie anymore ...

Re: Gas or Inertia?

Both are good. Any supposed advantage can be evened up with an upgraded part or backup gun. (Why do people go hunting with just one gun? :dontknow: ) Buy what you like the best, not what you think is theoretically superior.

I wouldn't spend high end money unless I had tried one and knew I liked it.

Years ago someone made stock and forend coverings that had a zipper for easy removal and covering. A buddy has them on his Mag 10 Deluxe. Gil
Did it resemble this?
guesswho,guesswhat? Yep. Gil
Kane Gun Chaps. I had them on a Weatherby Mark V. Haven't seen any for a while.

Re: Should I dip this gun?

Being in my right mind, I get stuck buying LH Medallion grade Brownings. A gel paint remover and scraper will take that coating they put on there off. Then you can rub in boiled linseed oil. It'll look good and not shine. Or you can just give it a liberal coat of paste wax. It'll rub off after awhil...

No fall season in GA. May have to make a trip over to AL around Thanksgiving.

I saw a line of tracks the other day that looked like a gobbler strutting for a jenny.

5# 6oz and in my opinion one of the few which would look right with a DeltaPoint on top

Meh. Still ain't skeered of gators. Spiders on the other hand... I crawled to the edge of a ridgetop to look down on some gobblers. I was wearing shorts and put on knee down on a little spider. The thing had some kinda funky bacteria that ate a hole in my skin about a half an inch deep. I was living...

Do the math on your finances and projected income, including retirement. Offhand, I'd guess you will want your military retirement plus salary from post-military job to pay for things like college tuition or accelerating paying off a mortgage. And if you haven't been saving, having a pension will ma...

Never had one, but I like the idea. I'm pretty automatic with the safety anyhow. Taking it off is part of mounting the gun for me.

A cottonmouth doesn't quit until you're well away or you kill it. We used to have them come at us while bank fishing at night on the lake or river. You'd catch that white patch of mouth shining in the lantern light. I've had a cottonmouth chase me all over a pond. I'd like to know how a snake can te...

SC mountain birds. 80% of the battle is learning how to get around well enough to get in the game. And then there's the weather at elevation. Tough. That's the hunting that you're actually doing, with a normal chance at killing a bird, with success determined by effort and skill. I put that in a dif...

Re: Help me pick a Small Bore O/U

More seriously, it depends on several factors with gauge being the least concern. You can look at how much shot you want to throw and how much you want the gun to weigh. And then there's the secret squirrel details of how the loads are made up. A load for one might be easier to assemble and offer be...

We have in the high country in GA and SC big black gnats I thought were buffalo gnats. We were covered up in them camped in the mountains the other week. Fortunately it was real breezy and we kept camp smoky. This is probably ignorance, but we call big biters flies, little biters fleas and little ot...
