Re: Percent pellets do you lose every ten yards?

At the end of its range, a pattern can fall to pieces in five yards. Estimates are nice for planning. Shooting it is the only way to know.

Re: The outlawing of male turkey decoys

That's just the usual wanting to throw someone in a cage because they don't conform to your personal view. Most people that go turkey hunting have not got the experience you have looking at gobblers in the wild. That thing coming through some grass in mixed lighting is going to take more than a half...

Get on the horn and found out what will be done if the barrel regulation is not close enough for turkeys. The list gets short real quick.

Re: The outlawing of male turkey decoys

The difference there is I suggested a law preserving freedom, while outlawing reaping suppresses freedom.

Well, maybe there ought to be a law protecting anyone who accidentally shoots one of these fools.

They've about stopped selling sxs altogether according the counter dude I asked. I would bet Yildiz still makes their full line. They sell to other markets than just Academy. Can you get a Yildiz in the US that was not imported through Academy?

Re: 20 gauge brass shells

The brass 3" is a bit long to carry any usual way, so I got a choke tube box. Next installment should be pattern of light load. Standard load might happen if I get my hands on the powder for it.

I see what you mean. Judging by resale prices on ebay the deal must have become popular.

Re: The outlawing of male turkey decoys

To hell with any more laws limiting freedom. If a grown man wants to play with dolls, that's his business. The only victim is the one who cheated himself of a fuller experience.

You didn't miss

It was just too far. Lead #8s at 40+ with mod choke. I was breaking some, but not all. That's the trouble with tough, or long shots sometimes. You are not missing entirely.

Re: Shotgun sights

The bead shouldn't be a blur. The turkey should be the blur. Of course, that does you no good if you can't focus on the front bead. These things can change with prescriptions, but that's off topic. I've had issues enough with clamp on sights to not trust them. If you're into red dots, go look throug...

You can probably find Tenth Legion at the library. If the local branch does not have it, I'd bet you can have it sent over from another branch.

Season dates changing

GA DNR sent out a survey to see if hunters would be OK with moving opening date of a large WMA to later in the season. The idea being that seasons are better if started during peak egg laying. As usual they got the dates wrong for that area, but at least they are trying. Are other states trying simi...

I'd check ebay and post around turkey groups to see if someone has another of your old one in their closet, etc. I don't use a vest. I have taken to carrying a Cabela's turkey chair sometimes. Getting to be most of the time!

Re: Short range patterns...what do you like to see?

That's a good point about a pattern being too wide to use without collateral damage. I have not seen anyone use a target big enough to see how many widely straying pellets you get. We know they exist because strikes for all the pellets in the load are not seen on the target. I know I've had to turn ...

Re: Oklahoma clothing

Thanks. If I go it'll be late April during the week.

I was trying to figure how it got cold or snowed in turkey season at that latitude, but then I saw it is over 2000' elevation. That's like being on top of a mountain in the SE.
