Re: Weaver Micro Dot Reflex???

Will they mount without a Weaver base to go on? If not, you might as well look at one of the small tube style. Fieldsport and Bushnell have budget models that are often known to stand up.

Re: 20 gauge brass shells

Well, I don't have an brass hulls, yet. I waited a little too late to order as usual. All I got in so far is a pound of T10s. This may end up being a 2019 project.2

I'm with ya on the trap. I was supposed to pick up kiddie pool and some PVC and rubber runner over the Summer.

Re: 20 ga. 1-5/8 TSS vs. Same in 12 ga.

Another difference in loads is the material used to build the shot column. The weights of all the ejecta contribute to recoil. Something simple with just a shot cup and OSC will kick less than something built up with cards and cushions.

Re: 20 gauge brass shells

First step was to determine if blackpowder might be a path to go for low recoil loads. Eh, a standard 7/8oz load works out to almost 50 grains Triple 7. So, while I assumed bp would be a path to softer shooting, smokeless seems to be more likely route. Too bad. Pretty sure the boy would dig a big pl...

It's in the Atlanta metro. I'd rather pay full price than visit that armpit unnecessarily. Once per month for work is bad enough.

Re: Federal TSS

12 gauge prices are kinda steep. I'd be a little peeved if I paid that much for a shell and it started leaking buffer and rattling. Sub-gauge prices are attractive vs. how long it takes me to load one. No comparison to these vs rifle ammo.

I find it helpful to understand things when I can see how the factors relate in a model. Recoil formulae: http://saami.org/PubResources/GunRecoilFormulae.pdf

Re: Bore cleaning between shots when patterning

Test it like you hunt it. Mine are spotless and dry. I use Shooter's Choice, brushes and dry patches. I will dry patch during season to keep it clean until I shoot a bird. This is for sub-gauge break actions running the ragged edge for adequate performance. Back when I threw 2oz of lead out of a fac...

I'm interested in hearing about the cut down results. You may have a hard time hunting with anything else after using that 3# gun.

1 1/8 out of a six pound 20ga is going to kick like a .270.

Correct. If someone gives you recipes, you can only rely on them to works as prescribed. Using any recipe as a starting point to use differently is completely on the responsibility on the person who tries it.

Re: 20 gauge TSS load for youth

There's an old duck load floating around. It used to be common knowledge, but it's kind of a secret now for some reason. Anyhow, I'm in the same process. I ordered some T10s from hawglips and will ask for a recipe after the shot comes in. I can't comment on tools or anything else, because I will tak...

Call organizer hung by bino harness, unless I'm going miles from the truck. Then I might take a daypack, but there's nothing specific to turkey hunting in the day pack.

Anyone hunt sometimes with an older double? I handled a Parker at the Cabela's in Augusta yesterday. Nice! I don't know that I'd put any real effort into hunting gobblers with one, but it'd be fun to have one to play around with on targets or crows, etc. Thing is, how do you find out about what is w...

20 gauge brass shells

RMC is up for sale! If ya want them, better get them now. I went ahead and placed an order for a box of 3" 20 gauge cases and a load kit. They answered the phone. So, maybe I'll get them. If they do show up, the first order of business is an ultralight load fit to reproduce .410 recoil and performan...
